GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department (unless otherwise noted) and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. DOMESTIC BATTERY

Kendall Brewster, 48, of the 1100 block of N. 32nd Avenue, Chicago, is accused of domestic battery, and was arrested at 11:27 a.m. May 5, after an incident at a business in the 3300 block of Milwaukee Avenue. Brewster was held for a bond hearing at the Skokie Courthouse.

DRIVING ON A SUSPENDED/REVOKED LICENSE

Alem Berhane, 36, of the 5000 block of Kimball Avenue, Chicago, is accused of driving while license suspended, speeding (26-34 mph over the speed limit), failure to surrender a suspended driver's license, and was arrested at 1:15 a.m. May 7, after a traffic stop conducted in the 1200 block of Milwaukee Avenue. Berhane was released on bond for the traffic offenses. Berhane was also wanted by the Department of Homeland Security (St. Louis, Missouri branch) on a federal felony warrant for unlawful possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. He was held in the Glenview Police Department lockup and turned over to agents with the Department of Homeland Security.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

Eduardo Torres, 55, of the 4600 block of Waveland Avenue, Chicago, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane usage, and was arrested at 4:05 a.m. May 5, following a traffic stop in the 200 block of East Lake Avenue. He was released on bond.

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT

Tomasz Sobula 45, of the 300 block of S. Lyman Avenue, Des Plaines, is accused of aggravated assault, resisting arrest, and was arrested at 9:52 a.m. May 2, in the 2600 block of East Dempster, Park Ridge. The arrest came following the investigation of an incident reported on April 18 in the 3800 block of Willow Road. He will attend a bond hearing at the Skokie Courthouse.

FORGERY

  • A Bellwood Lane resident reported at 2:53 p.m. May 2, two checks mailed at the Glenview U.S. Post Office were intercepted in the mail and cashed to different people and different amounts.
  • A resident in the 1400 block of Glenwood Avenue called police at 4:41 p.m. May 3, to report a check mailed at the Glenview U.S. Post Office was intercepted in the mail and cashed to a different person for the same amount.

TRESPASSING

  • A manager of a business in the 1600 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported at 9:46 p.m. May 2, that an ex-employee who was given a previous trespass notice to the business, returned to the business. He spoke with several employees and left the business.
  • An employee of a hotel in the 1800 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported at 5:06 p.m. May 3, a disturbance with a guest about the availability of rooms and pending room charges. The guest was given trespass notice to the business at the request of employees.

BURGLARY

An employee of a business in the 2300 block of Willow Road called police at 7:26 a.m. May 3, to report finding a shattered side glass door to the business. Upon reviewing recorded video surveillance. Officers learned at 2:15 a.m., three subjects are seen throwing a brick through the glass door and entering the business. The subjects smashed a cash register on the ground. At 2:17 a.m., the subjects leave the business, taking nothing with them.

BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLE

A Minnesota resident reported at 8:21 a.m. May 3, someone stole the catalytic converter from underneath their vehicle while it was parked in the parking lot of a business in the 1600 block of Milwaukee Avenue.

FRAUD

An employee of a business in the 4500 block of West Lake Avenue reported at 5:19 p.m. May 3, checks written to the business bank account were cashed to different people.

RETAIL THEFT

  • An employee of a business in the 2300 block of Capital Drive reported that at 4:30 pm. May 3, four female subjects entered the store and stole a large quantity of alcohol from the store.
  • An employee of a business in the 1900 block of Tower Drive called police at 1:55 p.m. May 8, to report two males and one female entered the store and shopped for shoes and clothing items. The males paid for an item while the female subject exited the store pushing a shopping cart with shoes and clothing items, without paying for them.

BURGLARY FROM MOTOR VEHICLE

A resident in the 1700 block of Woodland Avenue reported that between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. May 5, someone stole the catalytic converter from under their vehicle while the vehicle was parked in a parking lot in the 2500 block of Compass Road.
