Checks Forged, Statue Stolen, Drivers In Crashes Charged: Blotter

Incidents and arrests from the Glenview Police Department blotter from Nov. 7 to Nov. 13.

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by Glenview police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Every person arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.

INCIDENTS

STATUE THEFT
Someone stole a statue worth $700 from in front of a house in the 2900 block of Central Road prior to the evening of Nov. 6.

CAR BURGLARY
A bottle of alcohol and some loose change was stolen from an unlocked car parked in the 2700 block of Summit Drive around 2:30 a.m. on Oct. 26. The $30 loss was reported on the evening of Nov. 6.

TRESPASSING

  • An employee of a business in the 2200 block of Shermer Road reported around 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 7 that two men had entered the building without permission.
  • An employee of a business in the 1500 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported around 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 8 that someone was on the property without permission.

RETAIL THEFT
An employee of a business in the 1900 block of Tower Drive reported around 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 8 that someone had stolen a pair of $50 gloves from the store.

FORGERY
An employee of a business in the 2200 block of Ridge Road reported around 11:11 a.m. on Nov. 9 that someone had used a computer to alter business checks and cashed them for a loss of $6,200.

IDENTITY THEFT

  • A Walnut Court resident reported on the afternoon of Nov. 9 that someone had used their personal information to open up a credit card account. There was no reported loss.
  • A Vantage Lane resident reported on the afternoon of Nov. 9 that someone had used their personal information in order to change their passwords in an attempt to open up multiple credit card accounts. There was no reported loss.

CHECK SCAM
A Dell Place resident reported on the afternoon of Nov. 9 that they had received a fraudulent check for more than the listed price after listing an item for sale on an online marketplace. There was no reported loss.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
An employee in the 2800 block of Pfingsten Road reported around 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 11 that someone did $7 damage to a container that had been sitting outside the door of a business.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT
A resident in the 3500 block of Laurence Lane reported around 11:30 p.m. on Nov. 11 that someone had been knocking on and trying to open their front door.

RETAIL THEFT
An employee of a store in the 1900 block of Tower Drive reported around 3:15 p.m. on Nov. 12 that someone stole a wallet and two dress shirts worth $311.

TELEPHONE HARASSMENT
An employee in the 2300 block of Capital Drive reported around 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 12 that they had received threatening phone calls.


ARRESTS

Tomasz Dmyterko, 28, of the first block of Stacy Court, Glenview, was arrested around 9:45 p.m. on Nov. 4 and charged with driving under the influence of a combination of alcohol and drugs following a traffic stop in the 2900 block of Central Road. He was also ticketed for speeding 15 to 20 mph over the limit. Because Dmyterko refused testing and complained of seizures, police reported he was taken to a local hospital before being released on bond.

A 19-year-old Glenview man was arrested around 8 a.m. on Nov. 6 and charged with driving with a suspended license following an investigation into a traffic crash in the 1100 block of Waukegan Road.

Jun Kim, 48, of the 5600 of Spaulding Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 1 a.m. on Nov. 8 and charged with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol – with two prior convictions, and DUI – alcohol following a traffic stop in the 5600 block of Golf Road. He was also issued a citation for improper lane usage.

Malorie Alcantar, 33, of the 900 block of Seneca Road, Wilmette, was arrested around 6 p.m. on Nov. 8 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol amid an investigation into a one-car traffic crash in the 2200 block of Willow Road. She was also issued a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash, which caused no injuries but more than $1,500 in damage.

Brian Newkirk, 51, of the 2600 block of Fontana Drive, Glenview, was arrested around 8:15 p.m. on Nov. 11 in his block of residence and charged with battery and criminal damage to property after officers were called to a report of an argument with a pizza delivery driver. A car mirror was reported damaged.
