There were no injuries from the Thursday morning fire, but there is an estimated loss of $10,000 to a building that was under construction.

GLENVIEW, IL — A Thursday morning fire, started accidentally by construction workers using torches, will result in at least $10,000 in damage, according to the Glenview Fire Department. The fire started at around 7:56 a.m. at a property in the 3700 block of West Lake Avenue. There were no injuries.

When Glenview firefighters arrived at the scene, it had been turned over to the construction company superintendent. The initial arriving units reported heavy smoke from the third floor windows.

Responding companies — including Niles, Northbrook, Morton Grove, Skokie, Evanston and Buffalo Grove — had limited access to the building due to ongoing construction and debris being piled in the entryway.
