Coronavirus Case Closes Youth Services At Glenview Library
A staff member was diagnosed with COVID-19, which led to the closure until further notice.

GLENVIEW, IL — A staff member in the Youth Services Department at the Glenview Public Library recently tested positive for COVID-19, closing the department until further notice. The library made the announcement Tuesday, stating the employee is reporting mild symptoms.
In addition, a second employee is experiencing coronavirus symptoms, according to a press release from the library.
The staff member diagnosed with COVID-19 last worked in the library from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Aug. 6, according to the release.

"Based on the information reported, we do not believe any library patron had "close contact" with the individuals, as defined by the CDC," the library said. "However, if you recently visited the Youth Services Department and are feeling symptoms, public health officials recommend getting tested. Please note that we will not share the employees' names or other personally identifying information because of applicable confidentiality laws."
The Library is following guidance from the Cook County Department of Public Health and Illinois Department of Public Health and enacting the following safety protocols:

- Deep cleaning and disinfecting of all surfaces and areas in the Youth Services Department.
- Requiring staff members working in the Youth Services Department to self-quarantine and get tested for COVID-19.

Other areas of the library remain open for browsing at this time. Materials can also be placed on hold either by calling the library during business hours or online 24/7 at www.glenviewpl.org.
