Drunk Doorknocker, $17,500 ID Theft Reported : Glenview Blotter

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department as a record of police activity and includes both incidents reported by the public and arrests made by police. Criminal charges, which are often dropped or reduced, represent merely accusations. Everyone arrested is innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.

PACKAGE THEFT
Two people in a dark colored two-door vehicle were reported to have taken a package from the front porch of a house in the 800 block of Rolling Pass at an unspecified time on May 15. It was not immediately known what was taken or how much it was worth. No description of the vehicle or the pair of potential porch pirates was provided by police.
PURSE-SNATCHING
An unidentified man walked up to a car parked at a business in the 600 block of Milwaukee Avenue with a window open and snatched a purse through an open window while its owner was standing on the other side of the vehicle. It happened at an unspecified time on May 15, the reported loss was $180 and police did not provide a description of the reported purse thief.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Someone caused $1,800 worth of damage to a dozen bushes at a home in the 1000 block of Woodlawn Drive sometime prior to May 15.
THEFT
An employee at a business in the 2100 block of Pfingsten Road reported someone stole multiple rings worth $6,000 after they took them off during work. The rings were gone when the employee went to retrieve them.
THEFT
Someone stole a handicapped placard from a vehicle that had been parked in at a business in the 2100 block of Pfingsten Road, police were told on May 16.
CAR BURGLARY/CREDIT CARD FRAUD
Someone stole cash, credit cards and a driver's license from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 3000 block of Woodbridge Lane during the night of May 16, police were told. The credit cards were later used to buy gas and other items, spending $2,000 at an unknown location.
RETAIL THEFT
An employee of a business in the 2200 block of Willow Road reported at 2:45 p.m. on May 18 that there was a man in the store trying to steal various items. All property was recovered from the man, and police gave him a warning he would trespassing if he returned.
BATTERY
At 4:32 a.m. on May 19, police were called to a fight at a motel in 1500 block of Milwaukee Avenue. Police found two men and learned they had gotten into a fight after and argument. Neither man wished to press charges or receive medical treatment.
IDENTITY THEFT
Someone stole an estimated $17,500 from a resident of Hawthorne Lane after putting a hold on mail delivery to their home sometime between the end of April and beginning of May. Police learned fraudulent credit accounts had been opened using the homeowner's identity at several different locations.
RETAIL THEFT
Two men came into a store in the 2700 block of Pfingsten Road around 7 p.m. on May 19 and stole and unknown number of bottles of alcohol worth an estimated $100 before fleeing in a gray SUV.
DRUNK DOORKNOCKER
A resident in the 1200 block of Oakwood Lane reported a man pounding on their front door at 4:35 a.m. on May 20. The heavily intoxicated man claimed to live in the area. Paramedics were called and took the man to the hospital because of how drunk and disoriented he appeared to be.
THEFT
Someone stole the tires and rims worth $2,400 from a 2017 Honda Civic that had been parked outside of a home in the 4100 block of Cove Lane sometime between 2 p.m. on May 20 and 7 a.m. on May 21.
DISTURBANCE
A man was issued a warning he would be trespassing if he came back to a hotel in the 1600 block of Milwaukee Avenue after an employee called police to report he had created a disturbance after his credit card was declined. The man left the scene before cops arrived. He was later contacted by phone and given the notice not to return.
ARRESTS
Ashley Shinn, 34, of the 6600 block of North Harlem Avenue in Chicago was arrested at 1 p.m. on May 14 and charged with two felonies, forgery and identity theft, following an investigation in the 700 block of Becker Road. The investigation began after Shinn reportedly cashed checks using the identity of a Glenview resident and signing their name. She was being held at Cook County Jail in lieu of the $2,500 cash portion of her bail ahead of a June 1 court appearance.
A 40-year-old Niles man was pulled over around 10:13 p.m. on May 15 in the 100 block of Waukegan and accused of speeding more than 26 mph above the speed limit. He posted his driver's license as bond ahead of a June 6 venue.
Laura Pochmara, 41, of the 20600 block of Kenmore Street in Harper Woods, Michigan was arrested at 2:18 p.m. on May 19 in the 1400 block of Waukegan Road and charged with retail theft.
A 24-year-old Evanston man was arrested at 12:02 a.m. on May 20 and charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop near the intersection of Golf and Waukegan roads. He was also ticketed for speeding 21-25 mph above the posted limit.
A juvenile was issued a village ordinance citation for minor in possession of alcohol after they were found intoxicated around 12:07 a.m. on May 20 in the area of Wagner Road and Eastwood Lane.
Three people were issued village citations for being minors in possession of alcohol after they were found drinking in the are of Waukegan Road and Pebble Creek Drive around 12:36 a.m. on May 20.
Andre Watson, 23, of the 1800 block of 3rd Avenue in Maywood, was arrested at 4:12 a.m. on May 20 in the 1500 block of Milwaukee Avenue in connection with a warrant issued by DuPage County in connection with a failure to appear in court.
Dave Roberts, 26, of the 700 block of Hazelwood Drive in Northbrook, was arrested shortly before 10 p.m. on May 20 and charged with battery after a reported fight with "another citizen."
Owen Trier, 19, of the 3300 block of Thornberry Drive in Glenview, was arrested around 11 p.m. on May 20 in the 2500 block of Indigo Lane and charged with driving under the influence of drugs. He was also issued citations for possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving without headlights.
Christopher Lee, 22, of the 400 block of West Deerpath Road in Lake Forest, was arrested at 12:35 a.m. on May 21 at the Glenview Police Department and was charged with leaving the scene of an accident following an investigation into a traffic crash about 90 minutes earlier in the 1600 block of East Lake Avenue. He was also cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
