GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Every person arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

INCIDENTS

HOME BURGLARIES

  • A resident in the 100 block of Waukegan Road reported around 7:17 p.m. on May 5 that someone had entered their home and stole a box that was sitting on the counter with gym shoes inside for a loss of $220.
  • A resident in the 3700 block of Miller Drive reported around 4 p.m. on May 13 that someone had used brute force pry open a door and break into their house while they were inside, causing an estimated $1,000 in damage. The burglar was not confronted and fled.
  • A resident in the 2500 block of Bel Air Drive reported on May 13 that someone kicked in the rear entry door of the residence between 8:10 a.m. and 9:35 p.m. and rummaged through their home for a loss of $200.

  • A customer at in the 3800 block of Willow Road reported on April 30 that someone smashed a front passenger window and stole a bag containing a wallet and an iPhone from the front seat between 5:30 and 7 p.m. for a loss of $10,700.
  • Another customer parked in the 3800 block of Willow Road reported On on the evening of April 30 that someone had broken a passenger side window of a parked car and stole a purse containing cash between 4:15 and 4:45 p.m. for a loss of $500.
  • A patron in the 1800 block of Wagner Road reported around 6:45 p.m. on May 1 that someone had broken a rear passenger-side window and stole a laptop computer in a case between 6:20 and 6:31 p.m. for a loss of $1,200.
  • A resident in the 500 block of Lotus Lane reported around 6:30 p.m. on May 1 that they had seen their car door open and the silhouette of a person standing next to it around 10 p.m. the prior night. The suspicious person then ran to a waiting red Audi SUV, and left. Nothing was reported stolen.
  • A park patron in the 2600 block of West Lake Avenue reported around 3:30 p.m. on May 4 that someone had stolen a wallet from a bag inside their parked car and tried to use the stolen credit cards at two Skokie drug stores for a loss of $135.
  • A park patron in the 2600 block of West Lake Avenue reported on May 5 that someone had broken a window on their parked car between 3:40 and 5 p.m., stealing a bag with a wallet, telephone, cash and keys inside for a $1,250 loss.
  • A contractor in the 3000 block of Springdale Avenue reported on May 9 that someone had stolen two chainsaws worth a combined $600 from a landscape trailer between 3:21 and 3:31 p.m.

FORGERY

  • An employee in the 2100 block of Willow Road reported shortly after 2 p.m. on May 3 that someone had cashed two fraudulent checks against the store's account for a loss of $1,700.
  • An employee in the 1400 block of Waukegan Road reported around 2:30 p.m. on May 3 that someone had tried to buy several items using a fraudulent $100 bill. The cashier caught the counterfeit and no loss was reported.
  • Someone stole more than $3,000 using a fraudulent check to withdraw money from a company account, an employee in the 2500 block of Independence Drive reported around noon on May 7.
  • A guardian of a Concord Lane resident reported at 6:30 p.m. on May 7 someone had forged $810 worth of checks from a bank account.

  • A Seminole Drive resident reported on the morning of April 30 they had provided a scammer with more than $3,000 worth of gift cards after getting a call claiming there had been a "security breach" on their Apple account and telling them they needed to send Google Play cards to repair it.
  • A resident in the 2100 block of Swainwood Drive reported at 11 a.m. on May 6 that someone had stolen a package that had been left on their front porch by a delivery driver for a $2,000 loss.
  • A customer in the 2100 block of Pfingsten Road reported shortly before 7 p.m. on May 6 that someone had stolen a set of earrings worth $2,000 from inside a drawer.
  • A customer in the 1400 block of Waukegan Road reported shortly after 11 a.m. on May 8 that someone stole a wallet and telephone from his jacket pocket while he was shopping for a loss of $800.
  • A resident in the 4100 block of Crestwood Drive reported around 11 a.m. on May 8 that someone had stolen mail from the mailbox for a loss of $3.
  • A driver involved in a crash reported around 12:15 p.m. on May 8 that the other driver had just driven away with their driver’s license after they both pulled over in the 2300 block of Waukegan Road. The license was later recovered.
  • A resident in the 2600 block of Chestnut Avenue reported around 2:15 p.m. on May 9 that a jewelry box containing about $8,000 worth of jewelry had been stolen from their home.
  • Someone stole more than $3,000 worth of jewelry from a home in the 1600 block of Ridgewood Lane, police were told around 8:30 pm. on May 9.

SHOPLIFTING

  • An employee of a store in the 1400 block of Waukegan Road reported around 8 p.m. on May 3 that someone had just stolen two boxes of allergy medicine worth $70.
  • A store employee in the 100 block of Waukegan Road reported shortly after 4 p.m. on May 6 that someone had entered the store on May 1 and stole five bottles of alcohol and some paper products worth nearly $300.
  • Staff at a business in the 1400 block of Waukegan Road reported on May 10 that a woman had entered the store at 12:41 hours and stole two boxes of allergy medicine worth a combined $80. The shoplifter was described as 25- to 35-years-old, between 145 and 165 pounds, and white with brown hair and a height of 5 feet, 4 inches to 5 feet, 6 inches.

TRESPASSING

  • An employee in the 1500 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported around 2:30 p.m. on April 30 that a man yelled and swore at him after the employee refused to let him enter a room to use a toilet.
  • A resident in the 600 block of Juniper Road reported around 6:30 p.m. on May 9 that two people were on the property without permission.

HARASSMENT

  • A Carriage Hill Drive resident reported around 6 p.m. on May 1 that they had received a threatening e-mail.
  • A Elizabeth Lane resident reported around 1:45 a.m. on May 4 that they had receiving several harassing phone calls.
  • A resident in the 3200 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported around 8 p.m. on May 6 that they had received threatening letters from another resident.
  • A resident in the 1200 block of Gladish Lane reported around 9:45 p.m. on May 11 that they had been receiving unwanted telephone calls.

DEFACEMENT
An employee in the 900 block of Shermer Road around 1 p.m. on April 30 that someone had caused $100 in damage by spray painting letters on the inside of the women’s bathroom and a concrete bench sometime between 2 p.m. on April 29 and 10:15 a.m. on April 30.

SHOPLIFTING ATTEMPT
An employee of a store in the 2300 block of Capital Drive reported around 2:30 p.m. on May 1 that a man had placed items in a shopping cart and left the store without paying, but once he was stopped outside the door, he agreed to pay for the items and there was no loss.

INTOXICATED PERSON
Staff at a business in the 2600 block of Pfingsten Road reported shortly before midnight on May 1 that an intoxicated man was lying on the floor of an aisle in the store.

RIDE-HAILING DISPUTE
An passenger and a driver working for Uber in the 3100 block of Landwehr Road reported around 7:40 p.m. that they were having a disagreement involving both the driving of the car and the attitude of the passenger. Police sent them both their separate ways.

CREDIT CARD FRAUD
An employee in the 1900 block of Tower Drive reported around 5:30 p.m. on May 3 that someone had purchased a $290 watch using a stolen credit card number.

BATTERY
A taxi driver in the 1500 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported at 9:35 p.m. on May 6 that a female passenger spit in his face.

SUSPICIOUS CALL
A resident in the 1100 block of Raleigh Road reported at 1:47 p.m. on May 9 that they had gotten a phone call from a person claiming to work for the Social Security Administration and asking for personal information. The resident did not provide any information.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY?
A resident in the 1800 block of Linneman Street reported on May 11 that a young man had tried to open their front door at 4:20 a.m. on May 8. He was described as under 20 years old, with a height of 5 feet, 6 inches and Asian with a thin build, medium-length black hair and glasses.

ARSON
The Glenview Fire Department responded to a fire in a bathroom at Gallery Park, 2699 West Lake Ave. shortly after 6 p.m. on May 13 because someone had set fire to toilet paper, causing an unknown amount of damage. No witnesses were listed in the case report.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

A 46-year-old Palatine man was arrested at 1:49 p.m. on April 29 and charged with driving without a valid license following an investigation into a traffic crash in the 4000 block of Willow Road. He was also issued a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

Chudomir Georgiev, 22, of the 900 block of South McKinley Avenue, Arlington Heights, and Jeffrey Owen, 32, of the 400 block of North Elm Street, Mount Prospect, were arrested around 9 a.m. on April 30 at the Mariano's, 25 Waukegan Road, and charged with a continuing financial crimes enterprise as a result of an investigation into a report of multiple retail thefts of over-the-counter medications from the store.

A 25-year-old Park Ridge woman was arrested around 4 p.m. on May 1 and charged with driving with a suspended license following an investigation into a traffic crash in the 1900 block of Glenview Road.

Aruintsetseg Batmunkh, 35, of the 3700 block of Salem Walk, Northbrook, was arrested around 10:30 p.m. on May 2 in the 2400 block of East Lake Avenue and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and leaving the scene of an accident following an investigation into a two-car traffic crash in the 1700 block of East Lake Avenue. She was also issued a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Batmunkh refused breath testing, and at 12:30 a.m. the following morning, she was arrested again at the Glenview Police Department and charged with disorderly conduct after police said she pulled a fire alarm in the entrance lobby after bonding out from her DUI arrest.

A 29-year-old Chicago man was arrested around 10:30 p.m. on May 4 and charged with driving without a valid driver's license following a traffic stop in the 1500 block of East Lake Avenue. He was also issued citations for disobeying a stoplight and operating an uninsured vehicle.

A 29-year-old Buffalo Grove man was arrested around 3 a.m. on May 5 in following a traffic stop in the 1400 block of Waukegan Road and charged with driving with a suspended license. He was also issued a citation for not having a rear license plate light.

A 23-year-old Skokie man was arrested around 1:45 a.m. on May 6 in the 9700 block of Milwaukee Avenue and charged with driving with a suspended license and ticketed for speeding.

Eileen Lee, 40, of the 4200 block of Central Road, Glenview, was arrested shortly after 10 a.m. on May 7 and charged with reckless driving following an investigation into an April 21 traffic crash in the 3200 block of East Lake Avenue. She was also issued a citation for improper lane usage.

A 75-year-old Wilmette woman was issued a citation for retail theft and banned from a business in the 2200 block of Willow Road after staff said she stole a $52 bottle of perfume.

William Bourkas, 25, of the 7200 block of West Talcott Avenue, Chicago, was arrested at 1 p.m. on May 7 in the 2500 block of East Lake Avenue and charged with criminal damage and disorderly conduct following an investigation into an April 6 road rage incident in the 800 block of Harlem Avenue involving yelling, cursing and about $100 in damage to a mirror.

A 40-year-old Norridge woman was issued a citation for retail theft after staff at a business in the 1900 block of Tower Drive reported she stole $55 worth of children’s clothing.

Two girls from Niles, aged 15 and 16, were issued citations for theft and banned from a store in the 100 block of Waukegan Road after staff reported they stole $300 worth of merchandise from the health care section.
