GLENVIEW, IL — There are few people in the area that love figure skating as much as John Rohskothen. The owner of Rainbo Sports "has dedicated his life to bringing the joy of figure skating to the community," according to longtime employee and friend Stephanie Martin.

Unfortunately, Rohskothen has been quietly battling a rare form of cancer with "dignity and courage" the last 17 months. Martin wants to help him as bills continue to "mount up." Earlier this week, she started a GoFundMe campaign with a goal of raising $25,000 for Rohskothen and his family. As of Wednesday morning, the campaign has already reached the $21,000 mark.

"We are asking for your help for him and his wife, Kim, who has been a pillar of strength by his side," Martin said.

Rainbo Sports, located at 2665 Shermer Road (Northbrook mailing address), has been part of the Glenview and North Shore community for nearly 70 years.

"His friendly personality and upbeat attitude make going to work each day a joy," said Martin, who added that Rohskothen's cancer has a rare mutation.
