ANNUAL GARDEN WALK & PLANT SALE
Glenview Gardeners will hold their annual Summer Garden Walk and plant sale on Sunday, June 24th, 1:00-4:00 p.m. Guests are invited. Three Glenview area gardens will be open from 1:00-4:00 pm, each characterized by the garden club members who tend them. For directions visit the website.

The first garden to be visited is at the home of Esther and Dan Behnke, 2981 Landwehr Road, Northbrook. Their ever expanding mature garden features an abundance of roses and perennials. It has become an attraction for butterflies and is a sanctuary for birds. A front shade garden is new this year. Garden assistants are Roshni and Noshir Khouri.
The second garden to be visited is at the home of Nancy and Richard Spears, 807 Surrey Lane, Glenview. Woodland flowers, prairie plants, grasses, and mixed perennials with annual accents surround the house. Plants are allowed to naturalize and ground covers are often used instead of mulch. A new pergola and front porch add to the landscape. Garden assistants are Sarah Prouty and Jeanette Thornton Schwab.

The third garden to be visited is at the home of Brigitte Steinforth, 2138 Robincrest Lane, Glenview. Her newly edged backyard garden borders contain over 30 rose bushes as well as perennials and annuals to take advantage of both sun and shade conditions. Dahlias are her specialty. Garden assistants are Pam Frank and Holly Jansen.
Judy Oppegard is chairman of the event (847-724-2286), with Bill Oppegard as co-chair. Plants and Gardening related items will be for sale at the sites. Refreshments are available.
Glenview Gardeners is an area garden club open to both men and women who are interested in all aspects of gardening. Interests include indoor/outdoor gardening, landscape design and specialty gardening.
