Event With 1K Cars Gets 'Out Of Hand': Glenview Police Blotter
Police said the cars in parking lots and on the streets disrupted access to open businesses in the area.

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department (unless otherwise noted) and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court.

Deonta Dotsa, 28, of the 6200 block of Kenmore Avenue, Chicago, is accused of driving under the influence of drugs, blocking the flow of traffic, and was arrested at 8:46 p.m. April 5, after officers responded to the 1700 block of Chestnut Avenue for a well-being check. He was released and assigned a court date of April 24.

INCIDENTS
FORGERY
A resident in the 2000 block of Prairie Street reported at 9:10 a.m. April 1, mailing a check at the post box. The check had been cashed with the correct amount, $6,720.00, but the payee had been changed.
DISORDERLY CONDUCT
- A resident of the 600 block of Carriage Hill Drive called police at 11:15 a.m. April 1, to report concern for their neighbor, who spit over the fence at their dogs and makes loud comments, riling up the dogs and looking in the windows. They wanted the incident documented.
- Police dispatch received a call at 4:36 p.m. April 1, that a racist group would be doing a demonstration in the 1800 block of Waukegan Road. Officers spoke with a Northbrook resident who appeared intoxicated. They said they were part of the group and they were organizing a protest with them.
- A resident in the 4500 block of Larch Avenue reported that during the overnight hours of April 5, their house had been egged. The eggs washed off the residence with no damage.
FLEEING POLICE
Police saw a vehicle at 9:20 p.m. April 1, traveling westbound in the 900 block of East Lake Avenue at a high rate of speed. The squad radar showed the vehicle traveling 83 mph in a 35 mph zone. The vehicle turned onto Waukegan and disregarded the solid red traffic light in the 1500 block of Waukegan Road, traveling 86mph in a 35 mph zone.
THEFT
- A resident of the 1800 block of Grove Street called police at 2:09 p.m. April 2, to report a white male, between 5-foot-10 and 6-foot-2, between 175 pounds and 200 pounds, wearing a black hat, black sweater, and gray sweatpants, took a package from the residence that had been delivered, containing $45 worth of diapers. The person entered an unknown two door red sedan.
- It was reported at 6:31 p.m. April 4, that two employees at a business in the 800 block of Milwaukee Avenue got into an argument over the returning of tools. One then said that the other stole their "jumper starter." Both wanted to sign complaints.
STOLEN VEHICLE
A resident in the 2500 block of Central Road reported on April 3 that their car was missing from the driveway, last seen at 11 p.m. the previous day. The car was locked and they were in possession of both sets of keys. Children’s clothing, DeWalt tools, and Callaway golf clubs were in the car. Flock cameras showed the vehicle traveling eastbound on Dempster Road at Central Road in Morton Grove at 5:30 a.m. Vehicle entered into LEADS.
BURGLARY FROM VEHICLE
A resident in the 100 block of Montgomery Lane called police at 7:26 a.m. April 3, to report the window of their vehicle was shattered sometime overnight by someone and a backpack was taken that contained a laptop and passports.
TRESPASS
The owner of a property in the 1700 block of Waukegan Road called police at 12:45 p.m. April 5, to report someone from Northbrook had allowed their dog to run onto the property. The owner said the suspect has done this in the past and they had made prior police reports. With the help of an employee, they were able to capture the license plate. Officers were unable to make contact with the suspect. The property owner wishes to have a citation issued for trespassing.
ASSAULT
A Prospect Heights resident reported that a worker from Calumet City attempted to hit them while they were working at a business in the 4700 block of West Lake Avenue in Glenview on April 6. The victim said the person became upset with them at work because they did not want to trade work assignments. They said during the argument, the person was waving their hand in their face while saying they were going to batter victim. The person said they were upset because the victim "has been assigned to the easy details at work, is lazy, and spends most of the shift on the cell phone." The person admitted to saying they were going to batter the victim, but denied making any attempts to do so. The suspect was issued a village ordinance citation for assault and was told by the employer to go home.
MOB ACTION
Police received complaints at 10:29 a.m. April 6, that numerous cars and people congregating near the 2000 block of Johns Dr. The car event organizer said the event got out of hand but admitted to not having permission from the Village to host the event. Officers estimated about 1,000 cars had been in parking lots and on the streets, disrupting access to the open businesses. Officers assisted in dispersal of the attendees.
