'Fake Neighbor' Burglarizes, Florida Duo Arrested: Glenview Crimes

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department as a record of police activity and includes both incidents reported by the public and arrests made by police. Readers are reminded that an arrest is not an indicator of guilt and criminal charges represent merely accusations. All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

THEFT

On Aug. 8 at 1:36 p.m., a resident in the 100 block of Waukegan Road reported that $2,000 had been taken from a drawer without permission.

THEFT

On Aug. 8 at 7:08 p.m., a shopper in the 2900 block of Patriot Boulevard reported that someone took a wallet and telephone that had been left in a cart in the parking lot for a reported loss of $500.

RETAIL THEFT

On Aug. 8 at 8:58 p.m., an employee in the 3300 block of Glenview Road reported that a man walked out of a store with a bag of chips and a can of soda worth $8 without paying for them.

COMPUTER TAMPERING

On Aug. 9 at 8:53 a.m., an employee in the 2400 block of Ravine Way reported that someone accessed their computer to view business files without authorization. There was no immediate reported loss.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

On Aug. 9 at 2:21 p.m., a resident in the 900 block of Highland Lane reported that someone pretending to be a new neighbor lured them to the backyard, while another person entered the residence and took $3,000 money and jewelry. Police did not disclose any description of the burglars or their vehicle.

THEFT

On Aug. 10 at 10:16 a.m., a patron in the 1100 block of Depot Street reported that he left his $650 phone in the bathroom and it was missing upon his return.

THEFT/TRESPASS

On Aug. 10 at 10:50 a.m., a resident in the 1400 block of Baffin Road reported someone entered the backyard and stole $20 worth of personal items.

IDENTITY THEFT

On Aug. 10 at 1:49 p.m., a resident in the 1300 block of Sanford Court reported someone recently filed a tax return in their name, but there was no immediate reported loss.

BATTERY

On Aug. 10 at 4:12 p.m., a patron in the 3800 block of Willow Road reported someone threw something and pushed him after a driving dispute.

BURGLARY

On Aug. 10 at 5:30 p.m., a customer in the 2800 block of Patriot Drive reported that someone broke into their car and stole a briefcase, purse and cellular telephone for a reported loss of $750.

UNWANTED PERSON

On Aug. 10 at 9:38 p.m., an employee in the 2100 block of Pfingsten Road reported that someone came into the business and gave false identification information to the intake staff.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

On Aug. 10 at 9:19 p.m., a resident in the 2800 block of Park Lane reported they received a threatening letter in their mailbox.

THEFT

On Aug. 11 at 10:39 a.m., an employee in the 3500 block of Milwaukee Ave reported someone altered business records for a reported loss of more than $3,000.

RETAIL THEFT

On Aug. 11 at 12:06 p.m., an employee in the 2700 block of Pfingsten Road reported that someone removed cold sore cream from the shelf and left the store without paying for a reported loss of $450.

THEFT OF SERVICES

On Aug. 12 at 1:34 a.m., a taxi driver in the 1200 block of Swainwood Drive reported a passenger left the cab without paying her $71 fare.

THEFT

On Aug. 12 at 12:59 p.m., a patron in the 1400 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported that someone took a ring worth $3,000 from her room.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

On Aug. 13 at 12:20 a.m., an employee in the 3300 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported a customer was swearing and got in her personal space.

DISTURBANCE

On Aug. 14 at 12:33 a.m., a patron in the 1500 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported a stranger opened the door to his room where he and his family were staying.

RETAIL THEFT

On Aug. 14 at 1:25 p.m., an employee in the 100 block of Waukegan Road reported someone put items in a cart and left the store without paying for the items for a reported loss of $101.07.

CREDIT CARD FRAUD

On Aug. 14 at 6:23 p.m., a resident in the 2400 block of Bel Air Drive reported that someone had used a recently issued credit card to make fraudulent purchases for $3,000.

ARRESTS

DOMESTIC BATTERY

Kurt Bell, 39, of the 1800 block of Chestnut Avenue, was charged with domestic battery in the 1900 block of Ammer Ridge Court on Aug. 8 at 3:02 a.m.

DUI

Rolando Bote, 55, of the 9400 block of Nashville Avenue in Morton Grove, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and improper lane usage in the 1000 block of Waukegan Road on Aug. 8 at 10:28 p.m.

FAILURE TO GIVE INFORMATION

Kerry Carlin, 68, of the 1100 block of East Juniper Lane in Mount Prospect, was charged with failure to give aid/information on Aug. 10 at 6:54 a.m. after striking an unattended vehicle and operating an uninsured motor vehicle after a traffic crash investigation in the 2700 block of Pfingsten Avenue. He posted his driver’s license as bond and was assigned a court date of Sept. 12.

NO VALID LICENSE

A 46-year-old Crystal Lake man was charged with no valid driver’s license and improper lane usage after a traffic stop in the 4100 block of West Lake Avenue on Aug. 10 at 9:46 a.m.

DUI

Nicole Pietras, 28, of the 500 block of Seegers Road in Arlington Heights, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol with a block alcohol content of 0.08 or more after a traffic stop in the 900 block of Pfingsten Road on Aug. 10 at 8:16 p.m.

FLORIDA MEN ARRESTED FOR CREDIT CARD FRAUD

Francisco Ortiz, 30, of the 10600 block of Hammocks Boulevard in Miami, Florida, was charged with unlawful use of a credit card and possession of Fraudulent Credit Cards on Aug. 10 at 3:05 p.m. after a 9-1-1 call and an investigation at the Von Maur at the Glen Town Center in the 1900 block of Tower Drive.

Cesar Chestaro, 39, of the 9000 block of 156th Street in Miami, Florida, was also arrested Aug. 10 at 3:05 p.m. and charged with unlawful use of credit card and possession of fraudulent credit cards at the same location.

Police said the pair is alleged to have spent $98 on fraudulent cards. Ortiz reportedly had four fake cards and Chestaro had six.

FALSE POLICE REPORT

Megan Klir, 19, of the 200 block of Spring Grove Street in Beecher, was charged with disorderly conduct for allegedly filing a false police report in the 2500 block of East Lake Avenue on Aug. 11 at 1:15 p.m. Police did not say what the report was regarding.

WARRANT ARREST

Peter Nelson, 31, of the 1600 block of Waukegan Road, was arrested on a Cook County warrant for obstructing a court order on Aug. 11 at 11:14 p.m. after an investigation in the 1600 block of Waukegan Road.

NO LICENSE

A 24-year-old Chicago woman was arrested on Aug. 11 at 11:52 p.m. and charged with no valid driver’s license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and failure to yield at an intersection after a crash in the 1700 block of East Lake Avenue.

DUI

Desiree Grayer, 23, of the 1700 block of North McVicker Avenue in Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content over .08, driving on a suspended license and improper lane usage in the 4100 block of East Lake Avenue on Aug. 13 at 3:23 a.m.

DUI

Allan Beyderman, 34, of the 1000 block of North Boxwood Drive in Mount Prospect, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content over .08, improper lane usage and speeding (26-30 mph over the limit) in the 2000 block of East Lake Avenue on Aug. 13 at 3:37 a.m.

HIT AND RUN

Juro Owens, 18, of the 3500 block of Carol Lane, was charged with leaving the scene of a property damage Accident in the 2400 block of Chestnut Avenue on Aug. 13 at 7:36 p.m.
