Fake Police Officer Scams Resident Over 'Outstanding' Tickets: Blotter

Manuel Solano-Moreno, 45, of the 2700 block of N. Long, Chicago, is accused of driving with no valid driver's license, speeding 15-20 mph over the speed limit, and was arrested at 12:55 a.m. April 30, in the 4600 block of West Lake Avenue. He was released on a $2,500 bond and was assigned a court date of June 8.

Johnny Hernandez, 32, of the 400 block of Glendale Road, Glenview, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration level of .08 or more improper lane usage, and was arrested at 11:03 p.m. April 27, in the 800 block of Milwaukee Avenue. He was released after posting a $1,000 bond and was assigned a court date of June 13.
VIOLATION OF AN ORDER OF PROTECTION
Conrad Tkaczyk, 39, of the 1500 block of Topp Lane, Glenview, is accused of violation of an order of protection, and was arrested following an incident on April 27 in Glenview. He was taken to bond court.
SUSPENDED/REVOKED DRIVER'S LICENSE
Joaquin Marcos-Cornelio, 46, of the 4800 block of N. Central Park Avenue, Chicago is accused of driving on suspended license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, suspended registration, and was arrested at 8:49 a.m. April 28, in the 800 block of Milwaukee Avenue. He was released on a bond and was assigned a court date of June 13.
UNLAWFUL USE OF A WEAPON
Joseph Grant, 30, of the 700 block of N. Claremont, Chicago, is accused of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, speeding 15-20 mph over the speed limit, no seat belt, and was arrested at 5:12 p.m. April 28, in the 2500 block of East Lake Avenue. He was held for a bond hearing.
BATTERY
Abner Solis-Romero, 32, of the 8900 block of N. Parkside Avenue, Des Plaines, is accused of battery, and was arrested at 11:07 a.m April 25. The arrest came following in investigation into an incident on April 16 at a business in the 9800 block of Milwaukee Avenue. He was released on $1,000 bond and was assigned a court date of June 8.

SPEEDING
- A Prospect Heights resident was cited for speeding 35+ mph over the speed limit at 11:34 a.m. April 26, in the 4600 block of West Lake Avenue. They were released on $2,500 bond and were assigned a court date of June 13.
- A Chicago resident was cited at midnight April 27 for speeding 35+ mph over the speed limit following a traffic stop in the 4600 block of Milwaukee Avenue. They were released on a I-Bond with a court date of June 8 assigned.
- A North Chicago resident was cited at 1:07 a.m. April 27, for speeding 35+ mph over the speed limit following a traffic stop in the 2200 block of Waukegan Road. They were released on a $1,000 bond with a court date of May 27 assigned.
- An Evanston resident was cited at 8:21 a.m. April 27, for speeding 26+ mph over the speed limit following a traffic stop in the 1200 block of Milwaukee Avenue. They were released on a $2,500 bond and a court date of June 13 was assigned.
- A Skokie resident was cited at 6:30 p.m. April 27, for speeding 35+ mph over the speed limit following a traffic stop in the 6900 block of Golf Road, Morton Grove. They were released on a $2,500 bond and a court date of June 13 was assigned.
NO VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE
A Mount Prospect resident was cited at 12:31 p.m. April 26, for no valid driver’s license, speeding 15-20 mph over, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, following a traffic stop in the 4600 block of West Lake Avenue. They were released on $2,500 bond and were assigned a court date of June 13.
IDENTITY THEFT
- A Glenview resident reported at 1:06 p.m. April 26, someone used their identifying information to file a tax return.
- A Glenview resident called police at 3:17 p.m. April 26, to report they received a phone call from someone identifying himself as a Cook County Sheriff’s police officer. The suspect advised them to pay two outstanding tickets totaling $1,500. They resident sent a total of $400 through Zelle payments to the offender then discovered it was a scam.
- A Glenview resident reported at 3:59 p.m. April 26, someone made four fraudulent transactions from their business bank account. The total loss was $7,900.
- A St. Louis, Missouri, resident reported that on April 14, someone cashed a check for $3,370 at a bank in the 900 block of Harlem Avenue.
- A Glenview reisdent called police at 7:45 a.m. May 2, to report someone used identifying information to file a tax return. Additionally, the resident said someone also used their joint Citibank credit card to make numerous unauthorized purchases on Amazon.
- A Glenview resident reported at 10:53 a.m. May 2, someone used their identifying information to open a Visa credit card and purchased $900 worth of merchandisefrom a Target store in South Carolina.
BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLE
- An employee of a business in the 4300 block of Di Paolo Center reported that between 1:15 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. April 27, someone stole their wallet and iPhone 11 from the center console of an unlocked work truck while it was parked in the lot.
- A Glenview resident called police to report someone entered their unlocked vehicle while it was parked on April 23 at Community Park West, 1001 Zenith Drive. The offender stole a gold chain/cross pendant from the passenger side rear door.
- A Glenview resident reported that during the overnight hours of May 2, someone entered their unlocked pickup truck and stole a wallet containing credit cards, $2,000, and a circular saw.
- A Glenview resident called police to report that during the overnight hours of May 2, someone entered their unlocked vehicle while it was parked in the 100 block of Montgomery Lane.
- A Glenview resident reported that between May 1 and May 2, someone entered their unlocked vehicle while it was parked in the 200 block of Montgomery Lane.
- A Glenview resident called police that during the overnight hours of May 2, someone entered their unlocked vehicles while they were parked in the 300 block of Montgomery Lane.
- A person reported that during the overnight hours of May 2, someone entered their unlocked vehicle while it was parked in the 2100 block of McArther Drive.
- A Glenview reisdent reported that during the overnight horus of May 2 someone entered their unlocked vehicles while they were parked in the 100 block of Montgomery Lane.
DISORDERLY CONDUCT
A Glenview resident reported that between 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. April 27, someone threw three eggs at the window of their residence in the 2200 block of Henley Street.
FLEEING AND ELUDING
A Glenview resident was cited at 3:13 p.m. April 28, for fleeing/attempt to elude an officer, careless operation of an off-highway motorcycle, improper lane usage, following a traffic stop in the 1100 block of Milwaukee Avenue. They were released on a $2,500 bond and were assigned a court date of June 13.
FORGERY
A Glenview resident reported at 5:49 p.m. April 28, a person contacted them in response to a Craiglist ad. The suspect requested to purchase an item for $500 and sent the victim a check for $1,850. The suspect instructed the victim to cash the check in order to pay the movers extra money in cash. The victim recognized this as a scam and did not cash the check.
THEFT
- A Glenview resident reported on April 28, they arranged to purchase a 65-inch television from a person on Facebook Marketplace. The victim sent the seller $200 via a Cash App for the TV but have been unable to reach the seller in order to retrieve the TV.
- A Glenview resident called police at 6:28 p.m. May 2, to report they received a phone call from someone advising them of a fraudulent purchase being made on their PayPal account.The victim logged onto a website to file a claim, and their computer was hacked. The unknown offender then stole $3,999 from their bank account.
SUSPENDED/REVOKED DRIVER'S LICENSE
- A Glenview resident was cited at 7:55 p.m. April 28, for driving while license suspended, speeding, following a traffic stop in the 1800 block of Central Road. They were released on a $1,500 bond and was assigned a court date of May 27.
- A Prospect Heights resident was cited at 11:01 p.m. April 28, for driving a suspeneded license following a traffic stop in the 1700 block of East Lake Avenue. They were released on $2,500 bond and were assigned a court date of May 25.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Two vehicles were reported at 9:54 a.m. April 30 to be damaged in the 700 block of Beaver Road.
CRIMINAL TREPASS
A manager of a business in the 600 block of Milwaukee Avenue called police at 1:02 p.m. April 30, to report someone was inside the store bothering customers, after they had been given a previous trespass warning. The manager did not want to sign complaints. Officers spoke to the suspect, and they left the area without further incident.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY
A Glenview reisdent reported at 1:07 p.m. April 30, a light-colored van pulled into their driveway and an unknown male knocked on the door. The suspect said he was repairing roofs in the neighborhood. The unknown male told the victim he needed a bucket of hot water to repair a few shingles. A second unknown male entered the home. After the offenders left, the victim discovered a ring and set of earrings missing from their jewelry box.
STOLEN VEHICLE
- A Glenview resident reported during the overnight hours of May 1 someone stole their unlocked vehicle while it was parked in the 2200 block of Central Road.
- A Glenview resident reported on May 2 that someone stole their vehicle while it was parked in the 100 block of Elm Street.
