Fatal Dump Truck Crash In Glenview Kills Northbrook Resident
A 30-year-old motorist died after rear-ending a garbage truck on Willow Road early Tuesday.

GLENVIEW, IL — A Northbrook man died Tuesday after a car he was driving crashed into the back of a dump truck. Glenview police received a call of a traffic crash between a Toyota Solara and a truck on eastbound Willow Road between I-294 and Landwehr Road shortly before 4 a.m. and responded along with the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force's Major Crash Assistance Team, according to police.
The driver of the Toyota, identified as 30-year-old Carmel Epstein, of the 2500 block of Queens Avenue, was taken to Glenbrook Hospital and pronounced dead at 4:45 a.m., according to the office of the Cook County Medical Examiner.
Witnesses told police said the garbage truck was slowing down for a stoplight and travelling about 35 mph when it was rear-ended by the Toyota on a portion of Willow Road where the speed limit is 45 mph, according to Glenview Police Sgt. Police said there were no indications at the scene that alcohol or drugs were factors in the accident.

Willow road remained closed throughout the morning as Glenview police handed over the investigation to the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force's Major Crash Assistance Team. Illinois State Police, Cook County Sheriff's Police and the Northbrook Police Department were also involved in the investigation, according to a news release.
