Genitalia Exposed To Passerby; 3 Stolen Cars; Break-Ins: Blotter

Incidents and arrests from the Glenview Police Department blotter for Aug. 8 to Aug. 14.

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by Glenview police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Every person arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.

CAR BURGLARIES

  • Two unlocked cars were entered and a laptop and a pair of wallets stolen during the overnight hours of Aug. 6-7 in the 2300 block of Sussex Lane for a total loss of $600.
  • Someone stole a wallet and its contents worth $160 from an unlocked car parked in the 3100 block of Mary Kay Lane between midnight and 6 a.m. on Aug. 8.
  • Someone smashed a passenger side window to a car parked at a business in the 3800 block of Willow Road between 9 and 11:15 p.m. on Aug. 8 and stole a purse and its contents valued at about $1,000.

HOME BURGLARIES

  • Someone broke into a home in the 2000 block of Cambria court by prying open a door and ransacked the interior between Aug. 3-5 for an estimated loss of $40,000. The burglars stole watches, several pieces of jewelry and a Bentley that was later found by Chicago police in the 7400 block of South Stewart Avenue.
  • Someone got into a garage in the 3100 block of Mary Kay Lane through an open overhead door during the overnight hours of Aug. 7-8. A wallet and its contents were stolen from an unlocked car inside.
  • Someone broke into a home in the 1600 block of Woodlawn Avenue by breaking open a door window with a rock between Aug. 5-10 and stole computers and jewelry for an estimated loss of $5,000.

THEFT

A resident in the 1000 block of Castilian Court reported that between midnight and 6:30 a.m. on Aug. 7 someone had stolen $100 worth of laundry from a communal dryer.

STOLEN CARS

  • Between 1:30 and 6:35 a.m. on Aug. 8, someone stole a 2017 Kia from a driveway in the 3200 block of Sandy Lane for a reported loss of $16,000. The car was left unlocked with the keys inside.
  • Someone stole a 2017 Toyota from inside a garage in the 1300 block of Sleepy Hollow Road between 7 and 7:15 p.m. on Aug. 10 after getting in through an open overhead door. The car's key fob had been left inside. It was found a few hours later in Park Ridge.
  • Someone stole a 2015 Mazda from a driveway in the 1000 block of Raleigh Road between midnight and 9 a.m. on Aug. 12 for a loss of $32,000. The SUV had possibly been left unlocked with the key fob inside.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A resident in the 1000 block of Woodlawn Road reported that someone caused $1,500 in damage to the bushes on the side of their house between Aug. 2-6.

UNWANTED PERSON
An employee of a business in the 9700 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported at 9:53 a.m. on Aug. 8 that a man was on scene harassing patrons. He reportedly was begging for money and asking customers if they wanted to buy "weed." Officers located the man and gave him a trespass warning without finding any drugs.

RETAIL THEFT
Staff at a store in the 1900 block of Tower Road reported shortly before 5 p.m. on Aug. 9 that a woman came into the store and stole a pair of Kate Spade earrings valued at $58.

IDENTITY THEFT
Someone stole the wallet of an employee working at a business in the 2600 block of Patriot Boulevard from an unlocked locker on the morning of Aug. 9. Stolen credit cards were used that day to make several purchases at various Indiana locations for a reported loss of about $3,800.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Someone scratched both driver's side doors to a BMW parked at a business in the 0-100 block of Waukegan Road between 7:50 and 9:40 p.m. on Aug. 9, doing an estimated $1,000 in damage.

INDECENT EXPOSURE
A resident reported that 12:53 p.m. on Aug. 10 in the 1900 block of Willow Road a man exposed his genitalia to them as they walked along the sidewalk. He was described as between a 170-pound, 50 to 60-year-old white man between 5 feet, 7 inches and 5 feet, 10 inches with white hair. He was wearing a black baseball cap, gray shirt, camouflage shorts and gym shoes.

THEFT
Someone stole the $200 air cleaner cover off of a motorcycle parked at a business in the 200 block of Waukegan Road between 7:30 and 10 p.m. on Aug. 11.


ARRESTS

A 39-year-old Chicago woman was arrested at 3 a.m. on Aug. 9 following a traffic stop in the 400 block of East Lake Avenue and charged with driving with a suspended license and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

Scott Jacobsen, 36, of the 300 block of Ferndale Road in Glenview, was arrested at 7:20 a.m. on Aug. 9 in the 500 block of Harms Road following an investigation into a one-car traffic crash. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and DUI with a blood alcohol concentraion of 0.08 or higher. He was also ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
