Peterson said that he was a little sad that the turnout was so low and wished the candidates "were able to exerngize more people to participate in the democratic process," but nonetheless appreciated all the people who put their trust in him.
"I'm going to work hard to live up to that trust," he said. "This is the first time I've run for something, I've worked hard to reach out to people in the community and find out what their needs and concerns are and I'm really looking forward to making those desires and ideas for the Park District come to fruition."

David May, while disappointed, said that he feels that both Dan and Charles are "good people." Earlier, May said that he was glad that he had tried to jump in and offer to help in the community and the park district. May said that he enjoyed meeting the people of Glenview, asking questions and having conversations with them.
"However it pans out I wish the best for whoever wins," he said.
Charles Kuhn told Patch he preferred to speak tomorrow morning about his win.
Chuck Gitles spent his election night at the Chicago Bulls game with some of his work colleagues but his excitement rang loud and clear via text message.

James Bream spent the evening at home with his family, catching up with his daughter who had just returned from an exchange student program in Spain.

Welcome to Glenview Patch's live election returns! While voter turnout was the candidates are still looking forward to the end of this campaign season. Every hour, we'll be updating our ballot with the official running totals from the Cook County Clerk's office and feature developments in the races, candidate responses and final tallies.
Tuesday afternoon we spoke to some of the candidates for Park District Commissioner; , and , and candidates for District 30 School Board; and .
Some of the candidates said they would be spending their evening at watching the election returns and socializing with village members. Others opted for a distraction or a quiet night at home to wrap up their campaign season.
"I'm excited to see how it all turns out," said Dan Peterson, Park District Commissioner candidate. "I've been working hard to get my ideas and my message out. This is a good chance to see whether it's resonating and whether people are responding to it."
Peterson said his relaxing evening was jumbled when he was suddenly asked to lead a Scout meeting instead of attending as a supporting leader.
"It's more of a distraction than I thought I was going to have," Peterson said jovially.
Charlie Kuhn, another contender for one of the two Park District Commissioner seats, said he was also going to be at Hackney's this evening but primarily to have dinner with his family.
Kuhn said he felt fine about the race but was wary of the low voter turnout and unsure of the end results.
"It's anybody's guess," Kuhn said.
