Glen Development Clears Plan Commission

Commissioners unanimously proposed a housing development last week, which will move on to the village appearance commission.

The  in the Glen has been unanimously approved by the Village of Glenview Plan Commission at a June 28 meeting, after months of revisions to development plans.

The application for the Regency at the Glen was first presented to commissioners in April and , including landscaping and green space within the development, as well as the density of units included.

The development, which would be located at 2101 Saipan Drive, would include 38 dupex units and three single-family detachment units, as well as 110 rowhome units along the southern portion of the property.

Commission Chair Steve Bucklin commended the applicant,Schaumburg-based Pulte Home Corp., for repeatedly addressing issues brought up by the commissioners. 

"I think what i'm impressed by is every single time, they've addressed the issues that we've had concerns with," Bucklin said, "[and] come back with some very good responses. I think you've addressed what we've looked for."

The application was changed in five major areas:

  • overall site plan/design

  • less density

  • more open space

  • richer and enhanced architecture 

  • enhanced landscape

  • "When we came here on April 26, we had a good proposal," said Pulterepresentative Mark Masterocco. "Based on the commission's guidance, we're confident that the Regency at the Glen is a great development."

    The developers now have to go before the village appearance commission.

    In other business, commissioners also unanimously approved a 3,654-square foot addition to the .

    The addition is needed for additional group exercise space, according to the proposal.The second-story addition would be built at the southwest corner of the existing Park Center.

    "It looks like a great addition to the Park Center," Bucklin said.
