Glenbrook Hospital Construction Death Prompts Deeper Investigation
Occupational Safety Health Administration officials investigate the construction site and it's adherence to safety guidelines.

After 43-year-old Kenneth Puplava was killed by a support beam at a construction site Feb. 8, the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the Portage, IN, man’s death accidental, according to a recent report published by EHS & Safety News America.
Now, the Occupational Safety Health Administration (OHSA) has stepped in to conduct its own investigation and ensure the construction site is operating according to OHSA guidelines. Investigators were at Glenbrook Hospital Feb. 11 and have a six-month window to conduct an investigation, OSHA Area Director Diane Turek told EHS.
Currently, Glenbrook Hospital is working to complete a $100 million renovation project. Puplava was employed through the project’s primary subcontractor, Pepper Construction.
