Glenbrook South Girls Basketball Preview
The Titans return three starters from last year's team that won a regional title.
With Niles West and New Trier garnering a lot of the attention early on, flew under the radar for most of the year, but became a formidable opponent at the end of the season. The Titans were able to finish 20-9 last season, taking third in the very competitive CSL South with a conference record of 6-4 and winning a regional championship.
The Titans lost its two all-conference players from last season----but returns the other three starters from the 2010-2011 season. Shaw now plays basketball for the University of Chicago.
Glenbrook South will again be faced with the tough task of competing in the CSL South. Maine South returns all of its starters after taking third place in the state last season while New Trier features Northwestern-bound Maggie Lyon and Niles West will be led by Notre Dame recruit Jewell Loyd.

2010-2011 Highlights: Finished 3rd at Wheaton Holiday Tournament; placed 2nd at Schaumburg Thanksgiving Tournament; Defeated Loyola Academy 45-39 in the Class 4A regional final at Loyola.
Returning starters: Colleen McDonagh; senior guard, Abby Keller; senior forward, Amelia Hummel; senior center
Other returning varsity players: junior guard Lindsey Oldshue and junior forward Molly McDonagh were the first players off the bench for the Titans last season. Sara Meinecke, senior guard; Kelsey Byers, senior guard; Katie Cowhey, senior guard; Christina Van Zelst, senior forward also return.
Top newcomers: Teigan Flaws, junior forward; Katie Jennings, junior center; Katie Dwyer, junior guard; Annie Engels, junior guard; Brooke Thomas, junior guard; Ruby Thomas, junior guard.
Quotable: “We have a great core of returning players and have a lot of potential,” Weissenstein said. “Our league is as tough as it has ever been.”
