Glenview-Based Mead Johnson Says Formula Safe, Shares on the Rise

The largest baby formula maker in the country saw its shares drops nearly 15 percent last week after Wal-Mart stores pulled cans of Enfamil following the death of a Missouri infant.

Mead Johnson Nutrition, which makes Enfamil, is based in Glenview. The company told WGN that the batch of formula the 10-day-old baby, Avery Corbett, drank was tested and found not contaminated, so it is not issuing a recall. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has not issued a recall either, according to Huffington Post

Following the company's assurances of their product's safety, Mead Johnson's shares are on the rise, Reuters reports. According Reuters, as of Tuesday afternoon the formula-maker's stock had gained 6.2 percent to $69/share despite a continued investigation from national and local health officials.
