Glenview Couple Wary of Potential Brewery Smells
Odors caused by several sources at other breweries cause for concern for Bob and Mary Sacoff, who filed a report.

The opening of Glenview’s first brewery seems to be on the horizon, but a report put together by a Glenview couple note residents may have to pay for it...with their noses.
According to the Glenview Journal, residents Bob and Mary Sacoff visited several breweries including the Ten-Ninety Beer Company in Zion, which has plans to relocate to a larger location in Glenview at 1015 Waukegan Road.
“Several sources of possible smells or odors” that could affect neighborhood residents were identified including used grain from the brewing process awaiting trash pickup and steam escaping through a ventilation stack or open doors were included in the Sacoff report.

The Sacoff report further said many area breweries they visited keep their doors open, adding to an odor they described as “wet body odor.”

But Ten-Ninety owner Brian Schaefer noted the proposed Glenview facility would be air conditioned - unlike the one in Zion - and all doors and windows would normally remain closed. And even if some doors were opened, they would be the ones on the Waukegan Road side of the building away from the nearby residential areas.
The village’s plan commission recommended approval of the brewery, which is scheduled to be up for debate at the Tuesday, August 4 village board meeting.
