Glenview Gun Violence Forum Hosted By Rep. Brad Schneider
"Senseless gun violence is an epidemic," said congressman after meeting with community leaders.

GLENVIEW, IL – U.S. Rep. Brad Schneider (D, IL-10) hosted a meeting Monday with local leaders and organizations working to promote policies to reduce gun violence.
“Across our country, senseless gun violence is an epidemic that is threatening our communities and claiming the lives of far too many,” said Schneider.
“It is long past time for Congress to directly address this issue as the critical public health crisis that it is, and begin to work in a bipartisan way toward commonsense gun safety measures. I am committed to partnering with anyone serious about confronting gun violence to find common ground to make our communities safer.”

Schneider, a member of the Congressional Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, says reducing gun violence is a priority. He and meeting attendees discussed ways to broaden support for measures to expand background checks and reduce inter-state gun trafficking.
Participants discussed two proposed pieces of legislation under consideration by Congress that would weaken gun safety. One would legalize the sale of silencers, while another would broaden concealed carry permits regardless of local or state laws. Both were highlighted as troubling developments by attendees.
