Glenview Home Uninhabitable Following Lightning Strike Fire: Officials
Except for a dog, the house was unoccupied at the time of the Wednesday afternoon fire, according to authorities.

GLENVIEW, IL — No one was injured, but a home in the 1700 block of Annapolis Drive is "uninhabitable," following a Wednesday afternoon fire, according to fire officials. The Glenview Fire Department said the cause of the fire was a lightning strike that occurred during passing storms at around 3:30 p.m.
Except for a dog, who was rescued, the house was unoccupied at the time of the fire. No civilians or firefighters were injured during the incident.
Firefighters responded to a reported fire with smoke coming from the roof. According to a news release, the first Glenview engined arrived at the scene at 3:39 p.m. and firefighters were advised by neighbors no one was inside except for the dog.

Fire companies from Morton Grove, Northbrook, Northfield, North Maine Fire Protection District, Des Plaines, Buffalo Grove and Wheeling provided assistance. Firefighters deployed multiple hose lines to the second floor interior of the home, where they were met with heavy fire and a partially collapsed roof.
According to officials, interior fire companies evacuated the home and went into defensive operations. Two aerial ladders were utilized for fire attack from the exterior, along with multiple hose lines from the ground.

After the bulk of the fire was extinguished, fire companies went inside the home to extinguish hot spots. The remaining fire companies performed ventilation of super-heated toxic gases, utility stabilization, and salvage of occupants’ valuables, according to the news release.
The fire response consisted of four Engines, two trucks, one squad, three ambulances, three battalion chiefs and Glenview chiefs.
Officials said damage estimates are not available at this time.
