Glenview Man Admits to Lying Before Grand Jury Investigating Clerk's Office
Sivasubramani Rajaram said he loaned $15,000 to a company run by the husband of Cook Co. Circuit Court Clerk Dorothy Brown.

A Glenview man admitted Wednesday he lied to a federal grand jury that's investigating possible hiring violations in the Cook County Circuit Court Clerk's Office, according to the U.S. State's Attorney's Office.

Sivasubramani Rajaram, 48, pleaded guilty to making a false declaration before a grand jury as part of a plea agreement with prosecutors. He could face up to five years in prison and a maximum fine of $250,000. His sentencing hearing is Sept. 14.

Rajaram, 48, told prosecutors that he loaned $15,000 to Goat Masters Corp., a company run by the husband of Cook County Circuit Court Clerk Dorothy Brown. After Rajaram made the loan in August 2014, he was hired by Brown's office the following month as a senior clerk. Rajaram had been working in the clerk's office for several years even though he had been living in India.

During his 2015 testimony before a grand jury looking at alleged criminal violations concerning the buying of jobs and promotions in Brown's office, Rajaram said he never spoke with Brown after being hired in 2014 and that he only talked to another high-ranking clerk’s office employee a few times after returning to Chicago from India. In both cases, Rajaram said he had been lying, according to the plea agreement.
