Glenview Plan Commission Gives Red Seal Nod

Citing the lack of affect on Glenview, plan commissioners approve project that would divide Mission Hills Golf Course.

The Glenview Plan Commission unanimously approved Red Seal Development’s plans to build 137 residential units on a plat that takes up half of the Mission Hills Golf Course in unincorporated Cook County.

The commission’s unanimous October 27 vote did add an amendment that the village has no connection to, or any jurisdiction over the property and has no plan to annex it, according to the Glenview Announcements. Therefore, it would not affect village services at all.

“It’s in no way our approval or judgment on that project or its subdivision,” Commissioner Mark Igleski said.

Red Seal’s plan is to develop the area as the “Provenance” community near Techny Road and Western Avenue. But a number of legal battles have been wages between several Mission Hills Openlands groups and the development over an earlier approval from the Cook County Board.

Red Seal also needs the approval of the Glenview Village Trustees, who are set to discuss the matter on November 17.

The reason the matter came to Glenview is that a subdivision ordinance gives village officials authority to review projects within 1.5 miles of the municipal boundary.
