Glenview Police Detective Featured on 'Today' Show
Glenview Detective Cathy Sostak was recently interviewed for a national segment on a family of jewelry thieves.
Times are tough for families across the country. For one band of family thieves, the answer seems to be jewelry heists.
In a recent investigation aired on the Today Show Sept. 4, NBC's Jeff Rosen explores the intricate robberies, which often incorporate using grandparents, small children and even babies.
As part of the segment, was interviewed, sharing details and an inside look at the family and their alleged crimes.

Locally, Det. Sostak was recently honored at the .
Sostak, who has been with Glenview PD for 13 years, was recognized with the Public Service Award for her work with the Cook County State's Attorney's Office in building a case against the former director of the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County, Christopher Brooke Beal.

Beal was from the agency.
"It's very humbling to be selected from a pool of such deserving candidates," Det. Sostak told Patch at the event this past spring. "It's odd to get an award just for doing your job," she continued. "It's kind of neat."
