Glenview Pool Reopens Wednesday Following COVID-19 Cases

GLENVIEW, IL — The Flick Outdoor Aquatic Center is set to reopen. The pool has been closed since last Friday as a precaution after two lifeguards tested positive for the coronavirus. Glenview Park District officials say the entire center has been fully sanitized and cleaned.

"We worked with the Illinois Department of Health and have exceeded all safety requirements for reopening to ensure your safety," the district said in an email. "Out of an abundance of caution, many staff members who did not have close contact with the lifeguards who tested positive for COVID-19 have been tested. Many have received negative results while some are still awaiting their results. Our safety policy states employees who have been tested must receive negative results prior to returning to work."

The Glenview Park District does not believe any member of the public had "close contact" with the persons, as defined by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

Two Lifeguards At Glenview Pool Diagnosed With Coronavirus

Last Friday, all aquatics staff attended a virtual retraining on safety policies related to COVID-19, according to the Glenview Park District. The facility and buildings have remained vacant and untouched over the weekend.

Most refunds for visits scheduled Thursday through Monday were processed Monday, according to the district. There will also be refunding daily admissions reserved for Tuesday. Residents do not need to submit a request or any information to receive a refund.
