Glenview Road Westbound Lane Closed All Week as Sewer Upgrades Begin

GLENVIEW, Ill. – April 6, 2025 – Commuters heading west on Glenview Road will need to find a new route starting today, as the westbound lane shuts down for a full week to accommodate sanitary sewer improvements.

Crews were out early this morning, by 7 AM, posting detour signs along Glenview Road and directing traffic via Dews Road. The village’s latest infrastructure push centers on the intersection of Glenview Road and Lehigh Avenue, where aging sewer lines are being replaced.

What’s closed, what’s open:

- Northbound Lehigh Avenue – Closed between Glenview Road and the Metra station starting April 6.
- Southbound Lehigh Avenue – Remains open to traffic.

Despite the closures, local businesses — including the popular Glenview Grind coffee shop — remain fully accessible. Commuter parking lots are also open, and village officials say all businesses in the construction zone will continue normal operations. Staff personally notified adjacent business owners ahead of time. Glenview Road is expected to be open in both directions at night after 5 PM this week.

What’s next:

Once the Glenview/Lehigh work wraps up, contractors will move to Pine Street (between Glenview Road and Prairie Avenue) for the next round of improvements. Drivers should expect detours and partial road closures there from April 13 through April 24.

The final phase will bring a brand-new roadway on Depot Street, just north of Glenview Road. All improvements are slated for completion by early June.

Drivers are urged to allow extra travel time and follow posted detour signs.
