Glenview Sets Up Cooling Centers to Beat Potentially Dangerous Heat

Heat indexes could reach 110 degrees. Find out when and where you can go around the village to stay cool.

GLENVIEW, IL—In anticipation of possibly dangerously high temperatures that could send heat indexes as high as 110 degrees over the next couple days, the Village of Glenview is setting up cooling centers to make sure residents don't overheat.

Here are the locations people can use in case they need to get out from under the baking sun:

  • Glenview Park District Park Center, 2400 Chestnut Ave.: This designated cooling center will be open from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday, and 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday.
  • Glenview Police Department, 2500 E. Lake Ave.: The police station can be used in case residents need to cool down.
  • Glenview Fire Stations: The village's five stations also will be available.

Cook County also has multiple cooling centers that people can use during the heatwave. Check out the locations on the county's website.
