Glenview Will Have 2 Clean-Up Sites For Annual Chicago River Day

Friends of the Chicago River is partnering with volunteer leaders, municipalities, public and private landowners for the event.

GLENVIEW, IL — Residents from Glenview will be joining thousands of volunteers across Chicagoland on May 13 for the annual Chicago River Day cleanup event. Since 1992, Friends of the Chicago River has partnered with volunteer leaders, municipalities, public and private landowners to host its largest volunteer day of the year.

The Village of Glenview will have two clean-up sites this year — Techny Basin and downtown Glenview — according to the Village website. Work at both will go from 9 a.m. to noon.

For the Techny Basin site, meetup is at 9 a.m. at the Aldi parking lot off Willow Road. For the downtown cleanup site, people will gather9 a.m. at the public parking lot adjacent to the Oil Lamp Theater (1733 Glenview Road).

According to the website, thousands of volunteers, some with their families, others with community groups, and corporate teams work in and along the river system to care for the Chicago-Calumet River system by removing harmful litter at over 70 locations in the city and suburbs.
