Gordon Salon Holds Earth Month Fundraisers

The salon group will be raising money for the Alliance for the Great Lakes this April.

Gordon Salon, an Aveda lifestyle salon group that uses naturally-derived, eco-friendly products, will host its annual Earth Month festivities this April to benefit the Alliance for the Great Lakes and Global Green Grants. In 2016, Gordon Salon was able to raise over $15,000 for the Alliance for the Great Lakes and owners Tony and Pam Gordon are hoping to raise even more this year.

With locations in Lakeview, Glenview, Highland Park and Wilmette, Gordon Salon will support the environment by hosting several events like a Yoga for Agua class on April 7, a fashion show fundraiser on April 22, and a Beach Cleanup on May 21.

To kick off Earth Month, Gordon Salon will partner with Yogaview in Wilmette (1231 Green Bay Rd) to host a "Yoga for Agua" event on Friday, April 7 at 7:30 p.m. A $30 suggested cash donation at the door will be donated to the Alliance for the Great Lakes. The 75-minute class will be taught by Heather Martello (certified with Yoga Alliance E-RYT 500) and set to live acoustic guitar music from Scott Gardner. Small bites and wine will be served immediately following the class.

On Saturday, April 22 at 7 p.m., Gordon Salon will host "Catwalk for Water" at Premier Lounge in Glenview (2626 Golf Rd). For $50 to $75 per person, guests will enjoy a "green" carpet step and repeat upon arrival, food, raffles and live music from DJ Tazdeen Rashid. Silent auction items will include painting classes at Pinot's Palette, restaurant gift certificates, Chicago Symphony Orchestra tickets and more. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Alliance for the Great Lakes. The highlight of the evening will be the Gordon Salon "Trashion Show". The outfits in the show are created by Gordon Salon stylists using only recycled materials. Each salon will have a minimum of two outfits and the four salon locations (Glenview, Highland Park, Lakeview and Wilmette) will be competing against each other. To round out the fundraiser, Chicagoans can join Gordon Salon for their annual beach cleanup on Sunday, May 21 beginning at 11 a.m. at Gillson Park in Wilmette. Supporters can be a sponsor of the event with either a donation of a set amount or they can make a donation of $1 for every pound of garbage collected.
