Home Burglar Strikes While Residents Were Asleep Inside: Blotter
Cashier pocketed $2,800 by voiding cash transactions, motorist charged with hit-and-run and DUI: Glenview police blotter, Feb. 6–12

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Every person arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
INCIDENTS
ELECTRONIC HARASSMENT
A Waukegan Road business owner reported that someone had threatened them during a disagreement over a social media messaging service about where to conduct the sale of a drum set. The person warned that "where I come from guys like you get your scrawny little asses beat! For talking s--- to somebody who you don't even know. And I am the guy to do that....You got little children dumbass...I will visit you" The author of the messages told police he was warning the business owner about arguing with crazy people on social media. Police ordered him not to have any further contact with the business owner.
HOME BURGLARY
Someone burglarized a home in the 3600 block of Keenan Lane between Jan. 1 and Feb. 4, when the village notified the owner of the property that it appeared from the home's water usage that a pipe had burst. The back door had been forced open and most of the house had been ransacked. Someone stole coins from inside a safe, but the total amount of loss was not known at the time of the report.

CAR BURGLARIES
- Someone in a stolen black Maserati pulled up to a vehicle parked in the 1100 block of Milwaukee Avenue around 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 5, smashed the front passenger window and stole a purse that had been sitting on the front passenger seat for a loss of $800.
- Someone burglarized a car parked at a business in the 3800 block of Willow Road between 9:45 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 4, police were told the following day. A debit card and $260 in cash were reported stolen, and charges of more than $200 were put on the card between 2:16 and 2:35 a.m.
- Someone burglarized two SUVs in the 900 block of Juniper Road between 6 p.m. on Feb. 6 and 8:20 a.m. on Feb. 7, rummaging through the interior without stealing anything.
- A resident of the 900 block of Juniper Road reported someone burglarized an unlocked SUV parked in the driveway between 9:30 p.m. on Feb. 6 and 7:30 a.m. on Feb. 7. About $5 in charge was missing and the interior had been ransacked. The front passenger door was left open and the car's electrical components were damaged from overnight rain.

- A Meadowlark Lane resident reported on the afternoon of Feb. 6 they had recently received letters from six different credit card companies notifying them their application had been denied. The resident also got received Kay Jewelers credit card along with a bill for nearly $10,500 showing a purchase had been made in Montebello, California.
- Someone send a fraudulent email to a human resources employee of a business in the 1400 block of Milwaukee Avenue asking them to change direct deposit information to a Walmart money card. Police were contacted on the afternoon of Feb. 6 after another employee said their paycheck had not been properly deposited.
- A Grove Street resident reported on the afternoon of Feb. 6 that they had gotten multiple letter from a banks and credit card issuers denying applications for credit cards that they never signed up for.
- A Parkview Drive resident reported on the morning of Feb. 9 that they had gotten a bill from Verizon for the purchase of four new phones with New York phone numbers and a phone call from First Midwest Bank notifying them of the denial of a loan request. The resident later learned someone had used their social security number in both incidents.
- A Washington Street resident reported on the afternoon of Feb. 9 that they had gotten two letters from Enterprise Car Rental asking about a rented vehicle. The resident believed the letters were probably fake because they contained multiple misspelled words. The resident then received a phone call from someone purporting to be calling from Enterprise inquiring about a BMW rented from an airport in Cedar Rapids. The caller knew the resident's name, birthday and driver's license number.
- A Long Road resident reported on the afternoon of Feb. 9 that they had received a bill from AT&T for nearly $550 although they were not a customer. The resident learned someone had used their identity to open up an account.
STOLEN CAR FOUND
Around 8 p.m. on Feb. 7, officers found Ford F-250 parked in the 1500 block of Milwaukee Avenue that had been reported stolen from the Sherwood Inn, 1246 S. River Road, Prospect Heights, on Dec. 17.
HOME BURGLARY
While the residents slept, someone got into a home in the 1100 block of Washington Street through an unlocked back door and stole about $1,200 worth of items from the fireplace mantel. The burglary occurred between 11:30 p.m. on Feb. 7 and 7:30 a.m. on Feb. 8.
MEDICARE SCAM ATTEMPT
A Lindenwood Lane resident reported on the afternoon of Feb. 8 that several days earlier he received gotten a phone call from someone who asked questions about their Medicare. The resident contacted the Medicare office, where staff informed him they had not called, provided the resident with new identification and put a watch on his credit.
CRIMINAL DEFACEMENT
Someone spray painted various letters and designs on plywood inside a construction site in the 1700 block of Waukegan Road, doing about $10 in damage. Police were told on the afternoon of Feb. 8.
PACKAGE THEFT
A resident of the 300 block of East Lake Avenue reported someone stole a package containing a $13 costume from their porch between 2 and 3:45 p.m. on Feb. 8.
PICTURE THEFT
A resident of the 3100 block of Knollwood Lane reported on Feb. 10 that someone stole a 16-square-foot picture from a living room wall worth $50 between Jan. 26 and Feb. 6.
FORGERY
A Rugen Road resident reported on the afternoon of Feb. 11 that someone had altered more than $5,500 worth of their personal checks and cashed them at a bank in Calumet City.

ARRESTS
A 47-year-old Glenview woman was arrested around 10:15 a.m. on Feb. 6 and charged with speeding 26 mph over the limit.
Kiritkumar Shah, 61, of the 3400 block of Winchester Lane, Glenview, was arrested around 12:15 p.m. on Feb. 7 at the Home Depot, 2850 Patriot Blvd., and charged with theft. Police said worked as a cashier at the store and would void cash transactions and pocket the money. He is accused of stealing more than $2,800.
Caitlin E. O’Neal, 30, of the 1900 block of Ammer Ridge Court, Glenview, was arrested at 1:15 p.m. on Feb. 8 and charged with retail theft following an investigation into a report of shoplifting on Jan. 22 from Kohl's, 2201 Willow Road. An estimated $87 worth of clothing and nail polish was reported stolen.
Dalton Eggerson, 29, without a fixed address, was taken into custody at 12:05 a.m. on Feb. 10 in Park Ridge on a retail theft warrant issued by Glenview in connection with a report of shoplifting on Oct. 12 from the Target, 2241 Willow Road. He remained held at Cook County Jail three days later.
Mikhail Geyer, 64, of the 4700 block of Larch Avenue, Glenview, was arrested around 6 p.m. on Feb. 10 in the 1700 block of Dempster Road in Park Ridge and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and leaving the scene of an accident following an investigation into a hit-and-run incident around 3:15 p.m. that day in the 3500 block of Milwaukee Avenue when police said he struck an unoccupied parked car.
