Homeowner Returns To Find Burglary In Progress: Blotter
Arrests for felony DUI, financial institution fraud and drugs on the Glenview PD blotter from Oct. 10 to Oct. 16.

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by Glenview police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Every person arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
INCIDENTS
HOME BURGLARIES
- Police were called to a home in the 600 block of Windsor Road around 7 p.m. on Oct. 9 for a report of a home burglary that had just occurred. The homeowner walked in on a burglary while it was taking place and saw two men running out of the front door. It appeared someone had broken in the back door. Various pieces of jewelry were reported stolen with an unknown total loss.
- Someone broke into a home in the 1800 block of Tanglewood Drive by forcing open a rear sliding door between 8:45 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 9 and stole about $1,850 worth of jewelry.
BATTERY
Police were called to a home in the 300 block of 3rd Street around 11:40 p.m. on Oct. 9 for a report of a batter. Two men had been drinking together when one became enraged and punched the other in the nose. The assailant left the scene before police showed up, and the called was unable to provide a description of the man who had punched him.

SHOPLIFTING
The manager of a business in the 2200 block of Willow Road reported on Oct. 10 that three women or girls had come into the business and stole several pieces of Nike-branded clothing worth an estimated $300. They were seen fleeing in a red van or SUV.
THEFT
A patron of a business in the 1500 block of Greenwood Road reported on Oct. 12 that someone stole $300 by unknown means from a checking account. It was not known how it was stolen. Police were told someone had twice cashed $2,000 checks outside of Illinois at unknown locations. The resident suspected a checkbook from a bag while at the business in September 2018.

THEFT
A patron of a business in the 1800 block of Patriot Street reported on Oct. 12 that someone stole their wallet when they left it unattended that afternoon. The reported value of the wallet and its contents was about $700.
THEFT
A patron of a business in the 2700 block of Pfingsten Road reported on Oct. 12 that someone stole their wallet from a purse around 3 p.m. that day. The resident's bank contacted them about an attempted $11,000 purchase at a store in Des Plaines that had been marked as fraud. The reported loss from the purse was about $170.
STOLEN CARS
- Police were notified of an abandoned Lincoln resting against a tree in the 3800 block of Carousel Drive around 6:44 a.m. on Oct. 13 with about $2,000 in damage. Officers contacted the owner, a Westfield Lane resident, who explained the car had last been seen parked in a driveway around 12:40 a.m. It had been left unlocked with a key fob inside.
- A resident in the 3800 block of Rugen Road reported on Oct. 14 that someone had stolen a Toyota from their driveway that had been unlocked with the keys left inside between 6:10 p.m. on Oct. 13 and 10 a.m. on Oct. 13.
SHOPLIFTING
- An employee of a business in the 2200 block of Willow Road reported on Oct. 13 that someone had stolen an iPhone worth $300 from a store display.
- A staff member at a business in the 1300 block of Patriot Boulevard reported around 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 13 that someone had just stolen an undetermined amount of Redbull from a shelf and left the area in a Jeep SUV.
- A staffer of a business in the 1300 block of Patriot Boulevard reported around 1 p.m. on Oct. 15 that a man had just stolen a shopping cart full of baby formula, diapers, energy drinks and various other pieces of merchandise. He fled in a blue minivan with about $300 in merchandise.
THEFT
A patron of a business in the first block of Waukegan Road reported on Oct. 15 that someone had snatched their wallet from a purse while shopping around 2 p.m. on Oct 13. The wallet contained credit cards, IDs and a gift card. The patron later learned that someone had used the cards to make $5,000 in electronic purchases from an Apple store in Skokie.
ARRESTS
Helen Youkhana, 31, of the 9000 block of North Cumberland Avenue in Niles was arrested around 11 p.m. on Oct. 8 at the Glenview Police Department on a charge of financial institution fraud in connection with an investigation into a report of an Aug. 20 fraud in the 800 block of Waukegan Road.
A 26-year-old Glenview man was arrested shortly before 2 a.m. on Oct. 9 and charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop in the 1900 block of Glenview Road. He was also cited for speeding.
Michael Castello, 30, of the 200 block of Washington Street in Glenview, was arrested around 11 p.m. on Oct. 10 in the 2200 block of Harrison Street and charged with driving under the influence of drugs. He was also ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
Marcos Flores-Vazquez, 34, of the 3300 block of Wilder Street in Skokie, was arrested at 10:13 p.m. on Oct. 11 and charged with possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of drugs and driving while license suspended following a traffic stop in the 100 block of Waukegan Road. He was also issued citations for illegal transportation of alcohol, improper lane usage and making a turn without signaling.
Judy Glatz, 45, of the 9700 block of Bianco Terrace in Des Plaines, was arrested at 3:22 a.m. on Oct. 12 and charged with driving under the influence of drugs following a traffic stop in the 9800 block of Milwaukee Avenue. She was also ticketed for improper lane usage.
Giulia Egidio, 52, of the 1500 block of Winnetka Road in Glenview, was arrested around 12:30 p.m. at the Glenview Police Department and charged with domestic battery in connection with a Sept. 22 incident at her home.
Pierre Pope, 22, of the 1000 block of West Rosemont Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at 1:42 a.m. on Oct. 13 and charged with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol, as well as DUI – alcohol, driving without a valid driver’s license and DUI – combination of alcohol and drugs following a traffic stop in the 1200 block of East Lake Avenue. He was also issued citations for speeding and illegal transportation of alcohol.
An 18-year-old Glenview man was arrested at 11:45 p.m. on Oct. 13 and charged with speeding 35 or more above the posted limit and driving without insurance following a traffic stop at the intersection of East Lake Avenue and Harms Road.
Jesus Machado-Contreras, 27, of the 500 block of George Avenue in Waukegan, was arrested on a warrant for failing to appear in Lake County court after police were alerted to an alarm around 2:43 a.m. on Oct. 15 at the Glenview North Metra station. He was taken to Lake County Jail in Waukegan turned over to sheriff's office personnel.
