Illinois Shockwave 12U takes 2nd at Roselle's Spring Swing

Illinois Shockwave 12U started their tournament season with a second-place win at the Roselle Rockers 5th Annual Spring Swing Softball Tournament in Roselle on May 14th and May 15th. The team earned a third seed after going undefeated in pool play on Saturday defeating Stone City Sharks (8-6) and Lockport Pride (12-5). The team returned for single elimination play on Sunday to face Downer’s Grove Rebels in the first round (10-0) moving on to face Naperville Diamonds in the second round (9-4). That win advanced Illinois Shockwave to the semi-finals where they defeated Yorkville (7-1). In the championship round, Illinois Shockwave faced the home team, the Roselle Rockers. Despite outhitting the Rockers 12 to 9, Illinois Shockwave lost 8-4 in seven innings. Coach KC Liberty, Coach Greg Kapsimalis and Coach Rocky Sapienza were very happy with the team’s performance and are looking forward to a great season.
