Illinois Shockwave 12U wins Glenview Titans Thunderbolt Classic tournament

Illinois Shockwave 12U went undefeated this past weekend in the 2016 Glenview Titans Thunderbolt Classic tournament, taking 1st place honors for the second time so far this summer tournament season. The team put on an impressive display of both offense and defense all weekend long. The girls went 3-0 in pool play to earn the 3 seed for elimination rounds on Sunday. Pool play wins included a 15-1 no-hitter win over Evanston Express, a 19-2 win over Glenview Titans Blue and a 10-7 victory over the Chicago Fireworks. On Elimination Sunday, the girls defeated Trevian Blue 10-0 to advance to the semifinals to face Mundelein Stampede Red. In the semis, the team jumped out to an early lead and coasted to a 10-1 victory. In the championship round, facing the McHenry Jr. Warriors, the 12U Shockwave fell to an early 0-4 deficit after the first three innings, but a six-run 4th inning (on an impressive 7 consecutive hits!) sparked 12 unanswered runs by the Shockwave leading to a 12-4 win to take the championship!
