GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Every person arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

INCIDENTS

UNWANTED SALON VISITOR
An employee of a salon in the 2700 block of Pfingsten Road reported at 9:30 a.m. on March 19 that a man visited the business over the past several days and was "overly talkative" with female staff, making the employee uncomfortable. Officers instructed the man not to return.

FORGERY
The owner of a printing business in the 4200 block of Commercial Way reported on March 19 that they had gotten an email on March 7 requesting the delivery of cameras to an address in Nevada. The business received a check for $7,990 in the mail from an existing bank on a fake account. There was no loss reported.

THEFT
A resident in the 2400 block of Chestnut Avenue reported on March 19 that they had been called by a person claiming to be from the IRS. The resident gave the scam caller $2,500 worth of gift card codes.

ELECTRONIC HARASSMENT
A resident in the 1500 block of Saratoga Lane reported they received text messages of images of male genitalia. The resident told police they did not recognize the genitals or the phone number from which it had been sent.

THEFT OF LOST PROPERTY
A resident in the 200 block of Greenwood Road reported around 4 p.m. on March 19 that they had left a wallet at a McDonald's, 9815 N. Milwaukee Ave., with $500 in cash, credit cards and IDs at the counter while paying. Police reported video surveillance showed a 5-foot, 7-inch, 65-year-old Asian man with a large waist and no left hand take the wallet. The man was wearing an orange hat with an Air Jordan logo, a blue jacket, a gray Chicago Cubs shirt, blue shorts, white socks and black shoes.

THEFT
A resident in the 2500 block of Waterview Drive reported between March 15 and March 19 that someone calling themselves "Steve Benjamin" had sent checks for a couch offered for sale on line. Movers never arrived and the resident called police and reported a total loss of $4,630.

MAIL THEFT
A resident in the 2000 block of Saipan Drive reported between March 14 and March 19 that someone had cut open an envelope and taken out of USB drive, stealing digital files that includes the resident's personally identifying information.

THEFT FROM MOTOR VEHICLE
Sometime between 8 p.m. on March 20 and 8 a.m. on March 21, someone stole wiper cowls and rubber sealing from three cars parked in a driveway in the 2400 block of Bel Air Drive for a totally loss of $4,000.

PHONE IMPERSONATION
An employee of a church in the 3500 block of Thornwood Avenue reported around noon on March 22 that someone had impersonated them via a text message to a parishioner asking for help. A church employee in Arlington Heights reported a similar incident using the same phone number.

COMPUTER CRIME
The principal of a school in the 1100 block of Church Street reported around 5:15 p.m. on March 22 reported someone had tampered with computer software.

TRESPASSING
An employee of a middle school in the 2700 block of Central Road reported four 19-year-old men had been found walking around the school after getting in through an unlocked door. Officers asked them not to come back unless it was for official business and during business hours.

THEFT
A resident in the 1400 block of Sequoia Trail reported on March 22 that two teens between 16 and 18 had stolen two bicycles. The owner saw them riding nearby and confronted them. One left the bike and ran away. The other rode away and left the bike nearby where officers found it and returned.

FARE DISPUTE
Police were called to the 3000 block of Mary Kay Lane around 3 a.m. on March 24 for a report that a passenger had refused to pay, but the passenger claimed he did not understand the cab's credit card system and the driver had spit in his face. The rider eventually paid the cab fair.

RETAIL THEFT
Staff at the Kohl's in the 2200 block of Willow Road reported that a 27-year-old woman stole just over $600 worth of clothing and cosmetics after going into multiple dressing rooms and leave without anything. When store staff approached the woman in the parking lot, she refused to return and fled the scene in a white Hyundai Santa Fe.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A resident in the 1600 block of Glenview Road reported around 4 p.m. on March 24 that three 16 to 21-year-old skateboarders in a parking lot punched out ceiling tiles, doing about $100.

CANNABIS FOUND
A motel employee reported shortly before 3 a.m. on March 25 that a man in a white Chevrolet pickup hid a small bag of cannabis beneath a floor mat. Police were unable to find the suspect's vehicle but found a small amount of cannabis.

IDENTITY THEFT
A resident in the 3000 block of Glenview Road reported that someone had opened up a credit account using their name, address and Social Security number between Feb. 25 and March 25 and accrued a debt of over $28,000.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Robert Liss, 60, of the 4200 block of West Lake Avenue, was arrested at 6:41 p.m. on March 17 and charged with criminal abuse and neglect of an elderly person. Read more...

A 17-year-old Glenview boy was arrested at 1:11 p.m. on March 19 and charged with misdemeanor speeding, 35 mph or more above the limit.

Beto Juarez, 56, of the 10400 block of Michael Todd Terrace, Glenview, was arrested around 4 p.m. on March 20 on an arrest warrant related to a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol from 2002.

An 18-year-old Des Plaines man was cited under village ordinances for possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop for a lighting violation around 1:11 a.m. on March 22 in the 1500 block of Milwaukee Avenue. The officer smelled cannabis and police reported finding two marijuana cigars, a grinder and a vapid device containing a THC-infused oil.

Carlos L. Gutierrez, 37, of the 12700 block of Elizabeth Drive, Plainfield, was arrested shortly after 5 p.m. on March 22 at the Kohl's in the 2200 block of Willow Road and charged with retail theft after store staff reported he stole $145.49 worth of clothing.

Michael Fahey, 52, of the 2100 block of Valencia Drive, Northbrook, was issued a citation for disorderly conduct after police reported finding him highly intoxicated and ringing the doorbell of a home at 12:38 a.m. on March 23 in the 3300 block of Glenlake Drive. Fahey denied driving a car that was found parked and running nearby.

A 19-year-old Glenview man was arrested around 2:30 p.m. on March 23 and charged with driving without a valid driver's license and operating an uninsured motor vehicle after officers were dispatched to the scene of a traffic crash in the area of East Lake Avenue and Greenwood Road. He was also issued a citation for an improper turn.

A 48-year-old Glenview man was arrested around 10:45 p.m. on March 23 and charged with driving with a revoked license following a traffic stop in the 9800 block of Milwaukee Avenue. He was also issued a citation for improper lane usage.

An 18-year-old Glenview man was issued citations for possession of cannabis after officers discovered marijuana in a car parked at Gallery Park, 2699 W. Lake Ave., shortly after 11:30 p.m. on March 23.

Carlos Merino, 19, of the 800 block of Leamington Avenue, Wilmette, was arrested at 3:46 p.m. on March 24 and charged with driving under the influence of drugs or a combination of drugs following a traffic stop in the area of East Lake Avenue and Waukegan Road. He was also issued a citation for improper lane usage.
