Maine Township April 28 Expo Offers Range of Good and Services for Seniors

Lots of goods and service providers to visit. Free goodies. Live entertainment. Free bingo and more.

Seniors can check on available services at Maine Township's Swing into Spring April 28

When seniors attend Maine Township's Swing into Spring senior expo, it will
be a trip to a goods and services fair. Scheduled at Golf Mill Shopping
Center in Niles on Friday, April 28, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the free
expo is designed to link seniors who need services with the vendors who
provide them. Swing into Spring will include state and regional agency
information tables, product demonstrations, raffles, giveaways, and
contests as well as live entertainment.

Be sure to arrive for the popular Early Bird Bingo hosted and
sponsored by Maine Township Supervisor Carol A. Teschky from 9 to 10
a.m. This event is free of charge.

Next stop might be On the Road: How Valuable Are Your Valuables Show
brought to you by Paxem, Inc. between 10:15 and noon. There are no more
reservation spaces available but come and be part of the fun. According
to Jennifer Prell, who operates Paxem, neither Maine Township
MaineStreamers nor Paxem, Inc. are liable for any damages, theft, loss
or disappointment. "All items are priced “fair market value” for resale
purposes only and not as official appraisals," she added.

Be sure to make time for free caricatures by Mark Schultz, whose
quirky illustrations give people another way to see themselves, which
will be drawn on a first-come, first-served basis between 10:30 a.m. and
12:30 p.m.

While you are there be sure to check out the Mobile Driver Services
Facility which will be available between 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for vision
screening; renewal, replacement, and corrections for driver's licenses
and state ID cards; vehicle sticker sales; organ/tissue donor
information; and motor voter registration. To renew a current Illinois
driver's license or ID card, a valid driver's license or ID card must be
presented. To apply for a duplicate or corrected driver's license or ID
card, two forms of identification must be presented. For information
about acceptable forms of identification, call 217-782-7044 or visit
www.cyberdriveillinois.com.

Then expo attendees should make time to catch John Truncali, known as
The Man of Many Voices, who has been named by reviewers as "The Italian
Tom Jones," who will perform from 1 to 2 p.m.

"We are again very pleased that our MaineStreamers senior expo
continues to be so popular and grows so steadily," said Teschky, who
added that she expects this 11th annual expo to be another one for the
record books. "About 10 years ago, we would see maybe 1000 visitors, and
then more recently the crowd was rapidly approaching the 2,000 mark."
An estimated 1,900 people visited the event in 2016 during the expo's
five-hour run.

Sponsored by Maine Township, Advocate Lutheran Hospital, Chicagoland
Senior News, Paxem, and Suburban Resource Guide for Seniors, Swing into
Spring 2017 is expected to feature an expanded variety of vendors to
help better serve the residents who attend, according to Teschky. A
limited number of exhibit tables and sponsorships are still available.
Potential exhibitors and sponsors are invited to contact the Expo Sales
Office at 847-720-4495 or visit www.mainetownship.com/seniorexpo.
