Maine Township Honors Area Seniors 90+ with Huge Birthday Celebration

A total of over 9,000 years of life was celebrated in style this week as nearly 100 seniors ages 90 through 99 years old gathered. The event was hosted by Maine Township and its very popular MaineStreamers department which has over 4,000 members. May is Older Americans Month.

Maine Township held its annual celebration at the 90-Plus Birthday Party on May 21 at the Chateau Ritz, Niles. After about a decade of celebrations, this year's event had a record breaking number of seniors registered to attend. Many came with a spouse, son or daughter or a care-giver.

All were warmly greeted and presented with a flower and a certificate. Then, they had an individual photo taken with a Township official. The photos were processed by staff during the lunch and made available to participants upon departure.

The day was also highlighted with a nice lunch and some entertainment. "It is a pleasure for the Township Officials and staff to host our much beloved seniors for this celebration," said Carol A. Teschky, Township Supervisor.
