Maine Township's Office of Emergency Management Opens Training Headquarters

Volunteers, elected officials, members of law enforcement, representatives of area emergency management agencies, and friends gathered on June 25 for the ribbon cutting and open house reception celebrating the opening of the new headquarters of Maine Township's Office of Emergency Management (OEM).

The facility is at 1387 Redeker Rd. in Des Plaines, just southwest of the intersection of Golf and River Roads. The location will house OEM vehicles, serve as an emergency communications center and training facility for various emergency management groups.

"We are very proud of our award-winning Office of Emergency Management," said Township Supervisor Carol A. Teschky during the ribbon cutting ceremony. "Director Cohen and his outstanding volunteers are always ready to serve our residents and even those outside of Maine Township in emergencies and disasters. They have the knowledge and training to do the tough job 24/7 when needed."
