Man Battered After Denying Lighter: Glenview Police Blotter
The Glenview resident was punched three to four times in the face while outside a business.

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department (unless otherwise noted) and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Diana Antonio Rodriguez, 39, of the 1300 block of N. Avers Avenue, Chicago, is accused of aggravated driving with suspended driver's license, possession of a controlled substance, speeding 15 to 20 mph above the limit, and was arrested at 10:11 p.m. April 24, following a traffic stop in the 1900 block of East Lake Avenue. A court date of April 24 was assigned.

INCIDENTS
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY
A resident in the 2700 block of Commons Drive reported that on April 14, someone utilized a tool to pry the door and rummaged through the drawers, stealing a U.S. passport along with $10,000 in cash.
DISPUTE
An Arlington Heights resident called police at 5:03 p.m. April 14, to report an incident that occurred in the alleyway of a building in the 1600 block of Waukegan Road. They were attempting to access the rear of a business via the alleyway, which was blocked by two FedEx trucks loading packages. The business was advised they cannot block the alleyway and peace was restored.
IDENTITY THEFT
- A Lexington Lane resident reported at 6:14 p.m. April 14, they were the victim of identity theft. They received a call from someone claiming to be with Uber who said they were eligible for a bonus. This led to them assisting them with upgrading the account to an “UberPro” account. A short time later, they realized $1,000 had been transferred out of their account. They spoke with Uber, who informed them this was a scam.
- A Locust Avenue resident reported at 7:51 p.m. April 14, they had received a phone call from someone claiming to be from Bank of America regarding several suspicious purchases. Believing the call to be legitimate, they provided their debit card and Social Security numbers over the phone, only to later learn that $4,796.16 was transferred out of their account. They contacted the bank to begin the dispute process.
THEFT
A Wilmette resident reported on April 16, a theft that occurred at their Glenview business in the 800 block of Milwaukee Avenue. On April 3, they received a completed transaction over the phone for replacement tires, which was paid for over the phone by credit card. The purchaser’s “nephew” was coming in the following day. On April 4, the unidentified “nephew” arrived and had the four new tires installed. On April 16, the victim received a letter from a bank stating the charge was being disputed as fraudulent.
STOLEN VEHICLE
A Robincrest Lane resident, who owns a business in the 2000 block of Johns Court, reported one of their work trucks was stolen at around 5:20 p.m. April 16. They were notified when a GPS monitoring app alerted them. The vehicle was entered into LEADS as Stolen and a short time later, the Indiana State Police stopped the vehicle and arrested the driver.
TRESPASS WARNING
An employee of a business in the 1200 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported at 12:09 p.m. April 18, a customer had become upset with staff after not being able to make a purchase using Apple pay. The customer accused the employees of being racist and started recording them before being asked to leave. The employee asked that the customer be trespassed from the property. Officers called and left a message, advising him of the trespass notice and the business was advised to call the police if he returns.
CRIMINAL TRESPASS
An employee of a business in the 1900 block of Glenview Road reported a resident was in the business at 6 p.m. April 11. They explained the person had been given a trespass notice verbally, and through a letter, due to the behavior toward employees. On that date, the resident went to the business to inquire about an employee’s work schedule, but they were denied access to it. There are no complaints to be signed, and the staff asked that they be reminded of the ban. Officers attempted to make contact with the person, but they did not respond to calls.
BATTERY
A resident called police at 10:06 p.m. April 18, to report seeing someone being battered by two suspects in front of a business in the 1600 block of Milwaukee Avenue. Officers located the victim, a Des Plaines resident. They said they were outside the hotel with their friends when an unknown black male, 40 to 50 years old, 6-foot to 6-foot-2, 130 to 150 pounds, wearing a black long sleeve shirt and black cargo pants, attacked them. They said the suspect asked to use a lighter, and after refusing the suspect punched them three to four times then fled southbound on foot.
SUSPICIOUS PERSON
A resident in the 1500 block of Evergreen Terrace called police at 5:28 p.m. April 19, to report a man rang their doorbell and then turned the doorknob as if attempting to enter. The homeowner confronted the male, who said he was there to talk about solar renewable energy. The homeowner said they were not interested, and the male walked northbound. The male was described as being white, 6-foot and 6-foot-2, 140 to 160 pounds, medium length brown hair, and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, with blue jeans and white gym shoes.
FORGERY
A Northbrook resident reported at 10:50 a.m. April 21, mailing five checks in the mail, which they placed in the mailbox at Princeton Village in Glenview. The checks were taken from the mail, washed and the payee was changed, then cashed. Total loss is $4,210.
ARMED ROBBERY
A resident of the 1700 block of Bluestem Lane called police at 10:04 p.m. April 21, to report they were robbed at gunpoint in front of their residence. The resident said that after returning home from dinner and exiting their vehicle, they were approached by three males armed with handguns. The group exited a dark-colored SUV and demanded their property. They took the property and fled the area in the SUV. The SUV was later identified by FLOCK cameras near Lake and I-94, bearing stolen Georgia plates. The Illinois State Police later recovered the SUV in Chicago, which was unoccupied. The SUV, which was also stolen, was towed back to the Glenview Police Department. Total loss is $60,000. Case turned over to the Investigations Bureau.
