News Brief: GBS Names New Assistant Principal of Student Services
Currently the Assistant Principal at Niles North, Dr. Lara Cummings will assume her new position July 1.

It’s official. Dr. Lara Cummings has been appointed as the Assistant Principal for Student Services at Glenbrook South, and will assume her new role beginning July 1. District 225 Board of Education approved the appointment Feb. 14, after a number of committee interviews and a rigorous review process, officials said in a news release.
Currently, Dr. Cummings is the Assistant Principal of Student Services at Niles North High School where she has worked for four years. Previously, she was the school’s Special Education Coordinator. Dr. Cummings holds a Bachelor’s degree in psychology from Bradley University and both a Master’s degree and a Ph.D. in school psychology from Loyola University.
“Her vast experience, coupled with her Ph.D. in psychology, and engaging personality make her an outstanding addition to our administrative team and to student services at Glenbrook South High School,” said GBS Principal Brian Wegley.

Dr. Cummings cites her vision and collaborative communication skills among her greatest assets and says she is excited to begin building relationships with staff and students at GBS.
"The position at GBS is a great match for me because my experiences as Assistant Principal for Student Services, Special Education Coordinator and School Psychologist have provided me with the knowledge base and interpersonal skills to be a collaborative and effective leader," she said. "I am committed to creating opportunities to assist all students to achieve personal, social and academic success."

Mark O’Brien currently holds the Assistant Principal for Student Services position at Glenbrook South and will retire at the end of this school year.
