North Shore Mosquito Abatement District Plans Spraying Operations

The NSMAD plans operations in Glenview, Northbrook, Wilmette's Gillson Park, Niles West High School and elsewhere Monday night.

GLENVIEW, IL — Mosquito control operations are planned for Monday night across parts of the North Shore. The planned spraying and insecticide application comes a week after mosquitoes in several towns tested positive for West Niles virus. So far in 2018, nine batches of mosquitoes in the northern Cook County suburbs have tested positive, out of nearly 500 tested as of last week, according to the North Shore Mosquito Abatement District.

From 8 p.m. July 2 to 2 a.m. July 3, the district plans spraying operations in parts of Glenview, Northbrook, Northfield, Skokie, Wilmette and Winnetka.

Last week, mosquito operations were targeted at Evanston, Winnetka, Glencoe, Glenview, Lincolnwood, Morton Grove, Niles, Northfield, Northbrook and Skokie. To report areas of stagnant water that may produce mosquitoes in roadside ditches, flooded yards or elsewhere call 847-446-9434 or report standing water or a dead bird to the North Shore Mosquito Abatement District.
