North Shore Sports Leader to Speak at First-Ever Sports Summit Slated for October 5

Net proceeds will benefit After School Matters

North Shore resident Dr. Gordon W. Nuber (Glenview), Sports Medicine Physician for NorthShore Orthopaedic Institute, will discuss the impact of sports on the City of Chicago during the first-ever Chicago Sports Summit. The 7 a.m.-to-noon event, Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at the Hyatt Regency Chicago (151 East Wacker), will feature Chicago sports leaders; including professional team CEOs, coaches and players.

The summit will raise funds for After School Matters, a non-profit organization that offers innovative extracurricular activities in the arts, communication, sports, science and technology to teenagers.

Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush is the host for the summit and Athletico is the title sponsor.

The panelists will discuss the impact of sports on Chicago, including building fans and staying profitable, challenges of professional sports team ownership, how injuries affect professional sports, empowering youth athletes to stay in the game and the concerns and challenges of representing high profile athletes.

Dr. Nuber is a Board Certified orthopaedic surgeon, concentrating on sports related and traumatic injuries to the knee, shoulder, and elbow. He has authored over 100 publications on topics related to sports injuries of the shoulder, knee and elbow. He will be a panelist speaking about keeping our athletes healthy: the risks, liabilities and economics.
