One Last Taste of Autumn: Michigan Apple Farmer Returns to Wagner Farm November 8

GLENVIEW, Ill. – The Glenview Farmers Market may have closed for the season on October 25, but local apple lovers are getting a final opportunity to stock up. R & B Miller Farms, a beloved Michigan apple vendor, will return for one more Saturday on November 8, 2025, setting up shop at the market's usual location at Wagner Farm.

“Typically we stay a few more weeks after the market closes,” explained farmer R. Miller.

The Miller family will arrive with a bounty of hand-picked Michigan apples, offering a final chance for residents to buy them directly from the orchard. Available varieties include Mutsu, Jonathon, Winesap, Granny Smith, Gold Rush, Crimson Crisp, Cabina, Suncrisp, and Swiss Gourmet.

The apples are available for $22 a bushel or $0.75 per pound. “In many cases, that is less than at a store,” Miller added.

Beyond apples, the farm will also bring Michigan pears, honey, raw honey, and Michigan cranberries for their final Glenview appearance of the year.

For longtime customers like 34-year Glenview resident Diane Kaplan, the Miller Farms stand is an essential part of her autumn tradition. Kaplan has been frequenting the Glenview market since its days in the Jackman Park parking lot.

“I make apple sauce each year and one or two pies,” she said. “The Glenview farmers market is really nice and quaint and everyone knows everyone.” She fondly mentioned a business that has been hand-making crepes at the market “forever.”

While Kaplan also visits larger markets in Evanston and Skokie, she appreciates Glenview's small-town charm. She did note one change from last year: “The Glenview market had free wagon rides last year but I have not seen that this year.”

One unique feature that remains, however, is the hyper-local honey vendor. “One cool thing is a guy who sells honey that lives right across the street from Wagner and has the bee hives in his backyard,” Kaplan said.

The final pop-up sale from R & B Miller Farms will be held on Saturday, November 8, at Wagner Farm, offering a last chance to savor the season's finest Michigan apples.
