Over $11,600 Stolen With Fake Refunds: Glenview Crimes

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department as a record of police activity. An arrest is not an indication of guilt. Criminal charges merely represent accusations by the state. Everyone is presumed innocent until their guilt is established beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

BURGLARY

On May 4 at 8:22 a.m., an employee in the 2500 block of Waukegan Road reported someone entered and ransacked the business and removed items. There were no signs of forced entry. The reported loss is $760.

RETAIL THEFT

On May 4 at 5:08 p.m., an employee in the 1900 block of Tower Drive reported someone left the store without paying. The reported loss is $290.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

On May 4 at 6:21 p.m., Jonathan Fehr, 51, of the 1000 block of Meadowlark Lane was cited under a village ordinance for disorderly conduct-breach of peace in the 1200 block of Huber Lane.

THEFT

Shortly after 9 p.m. on May 4, a family member of a resident living in the 700 block of Carriage Hill Drive reported they had two packages taken from the residence for a reported loss of $88.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

On May 6 between 6:40 p.m. and 8:40 p.m., a resident in the 1800 block of Wildberry Drive reported someone shattered the window of their vehicle for a reported loss of $400.

FORGERY

On May 8 at 10:11 a.m., a customer reported they obtained a forged bill after making a purchase on May 4 at a business in the 2700 block of Pfingsten Road for a reported loss of $10.

THEFT

Shortly before noon on May 8, the owner of a business in the 1700 block of Waukegan Road reported between Jan. 4 and April 24 of this year, someone had been issuing false cash refunds for a reported loss of $11,673.17.

RETAIL THEFT

On May 8 at 12:54 p.m., the owner of a business in the 2100 block of Pfingsten Road reported someone removed merchandise from the store without paying for a total loss of approximately $200.

ARRESTS

Michael Asquini, 53, of the 1300 block of E. Best Drive in Arlington Heights was charged with disorderly conduct shortly before 6:30 a.m. on May 5 after the Glenview Police Department responded to Glenbrook South High School, 4000 West Lake Avenue, for a report of a threat broadcast through the school’s public address system during a test. The Police Department conducted a thorough inspection of the school building and determined there was no safety concern. The investigation determined an employee conducting the public address system test chose independently to read the “Marine Rifleman’s Creed,” which prompted those in the building to call the Police Department. Michael Asquini was charged with disorderly conduct.

DOMESTIC BATTERY

Miguel A. Diaz-Gonzalez, 32, of the 400 block of 4th Street in Northfield was arrested and charged with domestic battery and violation of order of protection in the 400 block of 4th Street on May 6 at 6:51 p.m.

OBSTRUCTING IDENTIFICATION

Joshua Botello, 21, of the 2100 block of West 21st Place in Chicago was charged with obstructing identification, failure to display driver’s license, operating a vehicle with expired registration, and served the Cook County arrest warrant for probation violation in the 4600 block of Willow Road after he misidentified himself to avoid arrest on May 6 at 8:03 p.m.

MORE THAN 35 MPH ABOVE SPEED LIMIT

Dillon Burke, 21, of the 1500 block of Kittyhawk Lane was arrested for speeding over 35 mph over speed limit and operating uninsured motor vehicle after a stop in the 1400 block of Sunset Ridge Road on May 7 at 12:33 a.m.

AGGRAVATED DUI

Neftali Solis-Barajas, 34, of the 1200 block of Fulton Avenue in Waukegan was arrested and charged with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a BAC of .08 or more, following too closely, and no valid driver’s license after a traffic stop in the 700 block of Waukegan Road shortly after 1 a.m. on May 8.
