Person, Dog Battered At Techny Basin Walking Trail: Blotter
One car stolen with a key snatched the night before—another found missing its engine and seat—on the Glenview police blotter for Sept. 5-11.

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by Glenview police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Every person arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
INCIDENTS
STOLEN CAR FOUND
The Chicago Police Department reported on Sept. 5 that a 2003 Honda stolen from a parking lot in the 2300 block of Lehigh Avenue on Aug. 13 was recovered in the 3000 block of South Kedvale Avenue. The engine, seats and all other major components had been stolen.

BURGLARY
A business owner in the 1900 block of Lehigh Avenue reported that someone burglarized a landscaping trailer between 2 p.m. Sept. 1 and 7:30 a.m. on Sept. 4 by using a prying tool to open the door. Numerous piece of landscaping equipment were stolen for a loss of $2,125.
FLORIDA SCAM
A middle-aged man and a women in an SUV approached a resident riding their bike in the area of East Lake Avenue and Waukegan Road and were able to convince the resident to give them money. They reportedly said they needed money to drive to Florida and drove the resident to various ATM machines in Des Plaines, Glenview and Park Ridge, making $1,700 in withdrawals before the resident was dropped off in Glenview.

VANDALISM
An employee of a business in the 2100 block of John’s Drive reported between that someone used green and blue spray paint to write words and numbers on two of the company’s trucks and an employee's vehicle sometime between Sept. 1 and Sept. 5. The estimated repair cost was not known.
DOG PARK BAN
Police were called to Community Bark West at 1001 Zenith Drive on Sept. 6 for a report of a man at the dog park who had previously been banned. He was located and warned against trespassing.
'RUSE' BURGLARY ATTEMPT?
A resident in the 2000 block of Waukegan Rd. reported on Sept. 6 that a man had showed up at his house and offered to fix his chimney. The resident agreed and escorted the man to the basement, purportedly to get water. The resident noticed another man walking out the back door of his house as they left the basement, and both men left the area in the same gray Ford pickup truck. Nothing was immediately reported stolen.
THEFT
A resident in the 1600 block of Forest Drive reported that around 1:50 p.m. on Sept. 7 someone drove a white Toyota Prius into a neighbor’s driveway and stole a package from a front porch. The contents of the package were not known at the time of the report.
RETAIL THEFT
Staffers at a business in the 1900 block of Tower Drive reported on Sept. 7 that two women had come into the store and stolen various items worth $142 after hiding them in their purses.
RETAIL THEFT
An employee of a business in the 2200 block of Willow Road reported on Sept. 7 that a man had come into the store on Sept. 6 and stolen a pair of vacuum cleaners worth $830 after putting them in a cart and covering them with a jacket before leaving the area in a gray Honda Pilot.
CAR BURGLARY
A resident in the 2000 block of Prairie Street reported that someone had stolen a key fob and wallet from inside an unlocked Lexus parked in a driveway between 7 p.m. on Sept. 7 and 9 a.m. on Sept. 8. The wallet was left in the driveway with the credit cards removed. Someone would return and steal the car later that night (see below.)
CAR BURGLARY
A resident in the 1900 block of Palmgren Drive reported on Sept. 8 that someone stole a laptop computer, backpack and sunglasses from an unlocked Honda parked in a driveway between 3:30 and 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 7 for a loss of $900.
STOLEN CAR
The Elmhurst Police Department reported shortly before 5 a.m. on Sept. 9 that they had tried to pull over a Lexus that had fled their jurisdiction that was later determined to have been stolen from a resident of the 2000 block of Prairie Street in Glenview sometime after 9 p.m. on Sept. 8. The key to the vehicle had been stolen during the previous night.
BURGLARY
An employee of a business in the 2300 block of Lehigh Avenue reported on Sept. 10 that someone had managed to get inside through unknown means between 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 9 and 5:30 a.m. on Sept. 10 and steal $600 in cash and a drawer worth $150.
ARRESTS
Tomas Martinez, 37, of the 1700 block of Greenwood Road in Glenview, was arrested 2:12 p.m. on Sept. 3 at Techny Basin and charged with aggravated battery and criminal damage to property – injuring an animal in connection with a report of a battery to a person and a dog on a walking trail that afternoon.
Franklin Boyd, 18, of the 5800 block of West Division Street in Chicago, was arrested at 8:21 p.m. on Sept. 3 at the Glenview train station and charged with theft in connection with a bicycle stolen from the 1900 block of Glenview Road a couple of hours earlier.
Majorie Hamilton, 51, of the 1400 block of Glenwood Avenue in Glenview, was arrested at 7:09 p.m. on Sept. 3 in her block of residence and charged with domestic battery.
A 22-year-old Northbrook man was arrested at 12:01 a.m. on Sept. 4 and charged with driving with a suspended license and ticketed for speeding following a traffic stop in the 2500 block of Waukegan Road.
Wilmer Tanner, 64, of the 300 block of Yates Avenue in Calumet City, was arrested at 2:13 a.m. on Sept. 4 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and DUI with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 or more following a traffic stop in the 3800 block of East Lake Avenue.
A 24-year-old Glenview man was arrested 9:35 a.m. on Sept. 4 in his block of residence and charged with driving without a valid driver's license. He was also cited for possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal transportation of alcohol, improper left turn and having a broken taillight.
Eileen Lee, 39, 2640 Summit Drive in Glenview, was arrested at 10:47 a.m. on Sept. 4 in the 2500 block of Waukegan Road and charged with criminal damage to property after she was reportedly seen kicking a car in a parking lot.
Theresa Guadalupe Sanchez, 39, of the 8500 block of W. Grand Avenue in River Grove, was arrested at 10:10 p.m. on Sept. 4 in the 2000 block of Pfingsten Road and charged with domestic battery in connection with an incident in a parking lot in the 2700 block of Pfingsten Road immediately prior to her arrest.
Isolina Matos, 25, of the 8500 block of South Mackinaw Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at 5:39 p.m. on Sept. 6 at a business in the 1800 block of Waukegan Road and charged with forgery, fraudulent use of an identification card, obstructing identification after she reportedly used a fraudulent driver's license and credit card to make an unspecified purchase. Matos also had a probation violation warrant issued by the Cook County Sheriff’s Police.
Nicolaie Oros, 41, of the 2600 block of Rascher Way in Chicago, was arrested at 8:50 p.m. on Sept. 8 in 1900 block of Landwehr Road and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 or more. He was also cited for operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
