PHOTO GALLERY: Glenview's Memorial Day Parade Honors America's Heros

Who doesn't love a parade? More than 1,000 people turned out for Monday's festivities.

Packed with plenty of red, white and blue, Glenview’s annual Memorial Day parade and ceremony attracted more than 1,000 people this morning.

Traveling east down Glenview Road from the downtown train depot to the Veteran’s Memorial on River Drive, vintage cars, American flags and men in uniform filled the streets. Also on hand for the parade, Glenbrook South and Maple Middle School marching band members entertained the crowd, along with parade contributions from the Glenview police and fire departments, local veterans and area girl scout and boy scout troops.

Ceremony highlights included a color guard, remarks by Joseph M. Sesterhenn of American Legion Post 166 and an address by Village President Kerry Cummings. The event was jointly hosted by American Legion Post 166 and the Village of Glenview.
