Plan Commission Adopts New Official Map
The map, which shows rezoning, annexations and future land use classifications, will be a tool for developers, officials said.

The 's new official map won't have any bearing on the maps village residents and visitors may use when plugging in directions on their GPS units.
However, the map approved by the village plan commission at its regular meeting Tuesday, March 8 will be of use to developers because it includes numerous redevelopment proposals and rezoning and proposed annexations since 1977, according to staff reports.
"It's an important document for developers, for anyone who wants to do business in the village," explained Steven Bucklin, plan commission chairman.

Village Director of Planning Jeff Brady said the map is updated "all the time, so it's not like we've been neglecting it," but the map now formally shows all of the changes.
"We went through the map since the last time it was updated in totality in 1977," Brady said. "So when we ended up with what we have left, it's really things that have never been shown on the map that are future designations."

The new version of the map is intended to:
- Reconcile any previous rezoning of property that did not have an official map amendment;
- Reconcile previous annexations of property that did not include subsequent public hearings to consider rezoning from default state-mandates zoning classification to a classification more appropriate to the area;
- Incorporate recommendations of the 1977 Official Map, previous amendments and future land use maps from both the village's 1990 and 2004 Comprehensive Plan;
- Affirm future zoning classification for special unincorporated areas adjacent to the village;
- Assign zoning classifications that will be compatible with existing land uses of all unincorporated properties within 1.5 miles of village boundaries.
In other business, the commission approved a conditional use permit for The Glen Auto Repair, Inc. at 3038 North Lake Terrace and 3034 North Lake Terrace.
No one objected to the action during the public hearing and plan commissioners had no questions about the application. The issue now has to go before the village Board of Trustees and Appearance Commission.
