GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Every person arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

INCIDENTS

JOB SCAM
A Greenbriar Drive resident reported on Dec. 14 that someone who had offered them a job via email in September had told them to buy more than $1,500 worth of electronic equipment and ship it to various locations in exchange for reimbursement, which was never received.

STOLEN TIPS
Someone stole $4 from a tip jar at a business in the 1400 block of Waukegan Road on Dec. 14. The thief left on a bicycle and the staff member who called police did not wish to press charges.

STOLEN PRESENTS
Someone stole several presents worth $50 from inside a business in the 3300 block of Thornwood Lane around 12:30 p.m. on Dec. 14. The person was identified and the presents were returned, the manager of the business told police on Dec. 18.

FAKE ID
Someone tried to buy a nearly $1,100 electronic tablet from Abt Electronics, 1200 Milwaukee Ave., using a credit card and a fake identification card around 8 p.m. on Dec. 18. The transaction was declined and the person left the store in an unidentified car before officers arrived.

STOLEN CAR
A resident in the 1700 block of Linneman Street reported around 8 p.m. on Dec. 19 that someone had stolen a car that between 10:15 p.m. on Dec. 18 and 5:40 a.m. on Dec. 19. The car, valued at $60,000, had been locked and parked in a driveway at the time.

ANIMAL BITES
A resident in the 1700 block of Brush Hill Lane reported around noon on Dec. 19 that they had been bitten by their neighbor's dog.

ARSON

  • Someone burned two recycling bins in the parking lot of Judy Beck Park, 735 Carriage Hill Drive, around 9 p.m. on Dec. 10, causing an estimated $150 worth of damage.
  • Someone set fire to a trash bin in the first block of Park Lane prior to 9:30 p.m. on Dec. 22, causing an estimated $190 in damage.

ASSAULTS

  • A resident in the 1700 block of Linneman Street reported around 8 p.m. on Dec. 19 that they found a man they did not know lying in the driveway. The resident asked the unidentified man to leave. He got up, threatened the resident and left. The resident did not know which direction he was headed.
  • A parent reported around 8:15 p.m. on Dec. 23 that two minors approached a boy and his friends outside Arclight Cinema, 1850 Tower Drive, and threatened to beat them.

BURGLARIES

  • A resident in the 900 block of Buccaneer Drive reported around 5:45 p.m. on Dec. 15 that someone appeared to have tried to pry open the front door of their home. There was about $50 in damage from visible pry marks and chipped paint on the door but no sign that anyone made it inside.
  • A resident in the 2000 block of Chestnut Avenue reported around 12:30 p.m. on Dec. 16 that someone had burglarized their home between 11:35 a.m. and 12:20 p.m. and stole more than $1,500 worth of jewelry from inside.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

  • A customer of an unspecified business in the 600 block of Milwaukee Avenue did $250 in damage to "numerous items" prior to 3 p.m. on Dec. 18.
  • Someone punctured all four tired on a car parked in the indoor garage of an apartment building in the 2500 block of Waterview Drive between midnight and 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 23, causing an estimated $1,000 in damage.

TRESPASSING

  • The owner of a building in the 2300 block of Lehigh Avenue reported around 10:15 p.m. on Dec. 13 that an ex-employee had been found sleeping on the property. Police told the former employee not to come back.
  • An employee of an unspecified business in the 9800 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported around 9 p.m. on Dec. 16 that a customer was yelling, throwing things on the floor and refusing to leave. Police reported the person left when officers arrived.

THEFTS

  • Someone stole a smart watch in the 3800 block of Willow Road between 9 and 9:15 a.m. on Dec. 19, police were told.
  • A patron of a business in the 9800 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported that someone took a wallet containing $200 after they left it at the store prior to 2:15 p.m. on Dec. 19.
  • A patron of a restaurant in the 4200 block of West Lake Avenue walked out on a bar tab around 9 p.m. on Dec. 20 before he was found in the 1700 block of Milwaukee Avenue and made to pay his bill.
  • Someone took two phones worth $1,300 after they were left unattended on the counter of a business in the 2400 block of Sanders Road around 9:45 a.m. on Dec. 21.
  • A resident in the 1800 block of Chestnut Avenue reported someone stole a necklace valued at $1,000 between 8 p.m. on Dec. 20 and 4:10 p.m. on Dec. 21.
  • Someone stole four wall hangings valued at $400 from the hallway walls of an apartment building in the 2500 block of Waterview Drive between 9 p.m. on Dec. 22 and 9 a.m. on Dec. 23. Each hanging measured 3 feet by 3 feet.

IDENTITY THEFTS

  • A Mint Lane resident reported on Dec. 14 that someone had used their identity to open credit accounts and purchased $3,418 worth of merchandise on credit using the resident's name.
  • A Pine Street resident reported on Dec. 15 that their debit card was missing and someone had made several unauthorized charges totaling $370.

SHOPLIFTING

  • Three unidentified male shoplifters stole three handbags worth $666 from a business in the 1900 block of Tower Drive and fled in an unidentified car.
  • Someone stole wireless headphones worth $250 from the Abt Electronics, 1200 Milwaukee Ave., around 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 18. The headphones were later found abandoned in the store's parking lot.

PACKAGE THEFTS

  • A resident in the 1600 block of Hawthorne Lane reported on Dec. 23 that their doorbell camera showed someone stealing a package on Dec. 14.
  • Someone stole three packages valued at $220 from the doorstep of a home in the 2100 block of Henley Street prior to 6 p.m. on Dec. 16.
  • Another resident of the 2100 block of Henley Street reported that someone stole a package worth $210 from their porch between 3:13 and 5:50 p.m. on Dec. 16.
  • Someone stole a package worth $200 from the porch of a home in the 2000 block of Fir Street between 12:08 and 4 p.m. on Dec. 16.
  • Someone stole two packages worth $248 from the doorstep of a home in the 2100 block of Linneman Street between 2:30 and 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 16.
  • Another resident in the 2100 block of Linneman Street reported around 7 p.m. on Dec. 16 that someone had stolen a package worth $110.
  • Someone stole a package valued at $500 from the doorstep of a home in the 1600 block of Constitution Court between 1 and 6 p.m. on Dec. 16.
  • Someone stole two packages valued at $62.79 from the porch of a home in the 1900 block of Linneman Street between 4:40 and 8:15 p.m. on Dec. 16.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Irina Tsipis, 33, of the 9600 block of Golf Terrace, Des Plaines, was arrested around 8:30 a.m. on Dec. 11 at the Glenview Police Department in connection with a pair of warrants stemming from investigations in to retail thefts reported in the 1500 block of Waukegan Road in August. She faces two counts of retail theft but it was not clear how much she is alleged to have stolen.

William Govis, 37, of the 5000 block of Jerome Avenue, Skokie, was arrested around 3:15 p.m. on Dec. 12 at the Glenview Police Department after officers determined he sent text messages that disturbed a co-worker.

A 36-year-old Northbrook woman was issued a local ordinance citation for retail theft around 2 p.m. on Dec. 13 after she stole a sweater worth $49 from a business in the 1900 block of Tower Road by hiding it in a bag she was carrying.

Georgia Thomas, 59, of the 300 block of Alexis Court, Glenview, was arrested around 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 14 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following an investigation into a crash in the 1800 block of Colfax Avenue. She was also issued a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash.

Hector Roman, 19, of the 1000 block of North Parkside Avenue, Chicago, was indicted on Dec. 16 on charges of burglary and identity theft stemming from an Aug. 26 incident in the 3800 block of Willow Road. He was processed at the Skokie courthouse before being returned to the custody of the sheriff's office on other charges.

Alexandra Martinez, 20, of the 5900 block of West Iowa Street, Chicago, was arrested around 10:45 a.m. on Dec. 16 and charged with one count of retail theft after police were told she stole more than $700 worth of merchandise.

A 52-year-old Evanston woman was issued a local ordinance citation for retail theft around 1 p.m. on Dec. 18 after stealing more than $300 in merchandise from a business in the 2200 block of Willow Road.

Alex Sepulveda, 21, of the 4100 block of West Barry Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 18 and charged with causing bodily harm while operating an uninsured motor vehicle following an investigation into a traffic crash in the area of West Lake Avenue and Maple Street.

A 58-year-old Chicago woman was issued a local ordinance citation for retail theft around 9 p.m. on Dec. 18 after stealing $417.50 worth of merchandise from a business in the 1900 block of Tower Drive.

Sang Lee, 52, of the 1100 block of South Romney Drive in Diamond Bar, California, was arrested around 4 a.m. on Dec. 20 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following a traffic stop in the 1900 block of East Lake Avenue. He was also issued an improper lane usage citation.
