For adolescents having a difficult time with loss, additional supports may be needed. Parents can help by encouraging teens to lead healthy lifestyles (eating right, exercising, and getting enough sleep), but it is also important to remember that teens need outlets for their emotions. Journaling is a great way for teens to express their emotions in private, and reflect on both their grief and the good times they shared with those they have lost.
Therapy can also be a great healthy outlet. We at Courage to Connect work with people of all ages to help them cope with grief and loss; if you feel your teen needs extra help navigating their grief, let's connect.
