Hit-and-run driver turns self in; Glenview man charged with obstructing police after battery call: Glenview police blotter, Aug. 14–20

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Every person arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
INCIDENTS
THEFTS
- Someone stole two bicycles worth $150 from outside a home in the 2400 block of Waukegan Road prior to 10:30 a.m. Aug. 13.
- A rabbit lawn statue was stolen from the west side of a home in the 400 block of Briarhill Road between 7 a.m. Aug. 7 and and 10 a.m. Aug. 10 for a loss of $15.
- Someone stole a recycling bin worth $100 from a home in the 700 block of Juniper Drive at some point prior to 7:07 a.m. on Aug. 13.
- Two rings worth more than $3,000 were reported stolen from a home in the 1700 block of Camden Drive between 10 p.m. Aug. 13 and 4 p.m. Aug. 14.
- An eight-foot plow worth $5,350 was stolen from a business in the 2200 block of Tanglewood Lane prior to 11:15 a.m. on Aug. 18.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE

- A shopper at a strip mall in the 700 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported around 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 12 that someone punctured a tire on parked car between 9 a.m. and 9:05 p.m., causing $55 in damage.
- Someone damaged the glass on a back door of a home in the 4300 block of Ivy Way between 9 and 11 a.m. on Aug. 11, causing $200 but not entering the home.
- Someone stole a digital camera from their home from a loss of $65 at some point prior to 11:30 a.m. on Aug. 17.
- A resident in the 2000 block of Henley Street reported around 9:15 p.m. on Aug. 19 that several youths broke two boards worth $40 while running through their yard.
TRESPASSING
An employee of a business in the 3400 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported around 5:30 a.m. on Aug. 14 that a trespasser had gotten into the building and moved equipment into a storage room from an office.
CAR BURGLARY
Someone stole credit cards from inside an unlocked car parked in a lot in the 1300 block of Glenview Road around 2 p.m. on Aug. 14 and made several unauthorized purchases at stores in the area.

STALKING
A resident in the 3000 block of Landwehr Road reported around 5 p.m. on Aug. 14 that someone had come to their workplace and home uninvited and also sent unwanted electronic messages.
SCAM ATTEMPT
A Lainie Circle resident reported around 5:45 p.m. on Aug. 14 that they had gotten unwanted phone calls from someone claiming to be from the IRS.
WRONG TRASH CAN
An employee of a store in the 3300 block of Glenview Road reported around 10:30 p.m. on Aug. 14 that someone had been putting their personal garbage in the businesses' garbage bin.
IDENTITY THEFTS
- An Elm Street resident reported around 6 p.m. on Aug. 15 that someone had opened credit cards in their name without permission. There was no reported loss.
- A resident in the 100 block of Cornell Court reported around 6 p.m. on Aug. 16 that someone had used a credit card stolen from the mail to make about $1,800 worth of unauthorized purchases.
- A resident in the 1500 block of Saratoga Lane reported someone tried to use their credit card to make a $4,070 purchase at a Best Buy. There was no loss reported.
DRUNK MINOR
A resident in the 2500 block of Waterview Drive reported around 5 a.m. on Aug. 16 that someone was intoxicated and asleep outside the residential building.
GIFT CARD SCAM
A resident in the 1000 block of Burton Terrace reported around 5 p.m. on Aug. 16 that someone called them and told them to buy gift cards and give them the numbers to "avoid being scammed" for a loss of $1,000.
PHONE HARASSMENT
A resident in the 800 block of Harms of Road reported around 11:30 a.m. on Aug. 17 that they had gotten unwanted telephone calls.
DISORDERLY CONDUCT
An employee at a store the 9700 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported around 4:15 p.m. on Aug. 18 reported an angry customer came in and threatened to "break all the windows and drive a car through the storefront."
FORGERY
Someone paid for food at a business in the 2300 block of Lehigh Avenue using a counterfeit $20 bill prior to 8:45 p.m. on Aug. 18.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS
A 54-year-old Chicago woman was arrested around 1:15 p.m. on Aug. 15 and charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop near the intersection of Thistle Road and Fielding Drive. She was also issued citations for not having proof of insurance.
A 34-year-old Waukegan man was arrested around 10:10 p.m. on Aug. 16 and charged with driving with a suspended license and expired registration following a traffic stop in the 1600 block of Waukegan Road.
A 36-year-old West Palm Beach, Florida, woman was arrested around 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 16 and charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop in the 1700 block of Milwaukee Avenue. She was also issued citations for running a red light and driving without insurance.
A 44-year-old Chicago man was arrested around 10:15 p.m. on Aug. 16 and charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop in the 1100 block of Lehigh Avenue. He was also issued a citation for not having a rear license plate light.
Leon Eder, 33, of the 1700 block of Greenwood Road, was arrested at the Glenview Police Department around 8 a.m. on Aug. 18 and charged with driving with a suspended license and leaving the scene of an accident following an investigation into a traffic crash that had taken place around 3:15 p.m. the prior day.
James Palmer, 54, of the 3000 block of Mary Kay Lane, Glenview, was arrested around 6:15 p.m. on Aug. 18 at his residence and charged with obstructing a peace officer after police were dispatched to his block for a report of a domestic battery.
A woman was ticketed and warned against returning to a store in the 1900 block of Tower Drive after an employee reported around 2:45 p.m. on Aug. 19 that she was seen hiding $28 worth of merchandise under her clothes.
