'Reverse' Fourth Of July Parade Being Discussed

The Village of Glenview announced Monday plans are in the works for a possible Fourth of July parade next month, with a slight twist.

GLENVIEW, IL — In a year when it seems like nothing has been normal, the possibility of having a Fourth of July parade — even if that also is a bit different from what residents are used to — is some welcome news. With that in mind, the Village of Glenview announced Monday plans are in the works for a "reverse" parade next month.

With the typical holiday fireworks show postponed to an uncertain date, the Village is brainstorming ideas to still celebrate. Instead of the traditional parade, where residents line a route and watch it go by, the floats and exhibits would instead be parked along the internal road through Community Park West, according to the Village's e-newsletter. Residents in their own vehicles — decorated if they desire — would drive by.

"Details are still being worked out, including a format to insure a bottleneck doesn't form at the entrance to the park," the message reads. "When plans are fully developed, information will be available on glenview4th.org (not yet)."
